I don't know why you insist on supporting every genre. I definitely think that there are some genres that just have nothing going for them. And although Green Day has written some tolerable songs (When I Come Around, Good Riddance), I certainly would not say they are much better than Blink. I have dug deeper than those bands, they are just my stereotypical examples. I went to a Dropkick Murphy's show a couple years ago and it was horrible. Please inform me of a good punk band.nadroj1985 said:I wouldn't say punk is about noise, or at least not noise in the SY sense. But man, there you go again dissing a whole genre. Maybe you should dig deeper than Green Day and Blink 182 (oh and BTW, that is sad that you compare those 2, GD is much better). There is some very good punk out there.

Genres are bad when they are comprised of bands that imitate successful bands. For example, all pop-punk pretty much sounds the same these days. However, in the 70s, most of the bands who are now classified under "classic rock" just played the type of music that they were inspired to play and were latered categorized. This is what provides greater variety in GOOD genres.nadroj1985 said:Hahaha nice.
But there are always many people who don't enjoy a certain genre. If we went by your reasoning, all genres are horrible.

Then why would you even bother posting in the forum about the Beatles being the greatest band ever? If the only qualification on whether a band is good is personal opinion, nadro, then you simply must concede that the Beatles are the best band of all time because the majority of personal opinions place them there.nadroj1985 said:Well I could ask you the same questions over again (Why does music have to original? Why do genres have to be varied?) but let's just leave it at this:
I don't think there is any such thing as good or bad music. The only qualification for good music is that someone likes it. Therefore there is no objective standard to judge music on. For this reason, I will probably disagree with you every time you say any music is bad. You have to realize that what you think is bad is only bad when measured against your standard. Your standard is no better than anyone else's. My standard tells me that VU is the best band of all time, and that bands like the Beatles are nowhere close. If someone has different standards, they might like the Beatles a lot more than VU. Their favorite bands and music are no "better" or "worse" than mine. They are just based on different standards.
