I know I'm gonna lose this one, but I'm voting for the White Stripes. They are the best pure rock n' roll band out there right now, so simple yet they just understand the essence of good ole fashioned blues rock. Pink Floyd is very talented, experimental, etc. but I just could never get into any of their stuff outside of Dark Side of the Moon.

Woah, did I miss the U2 round? Wow, I have been too busy - I've just come here for the U2 fan thread and that's it. HOORAY, at least they're through!

For this round, there's no competition at all. Pink Floyd are the second-best band of all time. You all know who I reckon they're behind.

Yeah this is no contest whatsoever. Pink Floyd is unbelievable. Even if Dark Side was their only album, it would not matter, they would still win. This is another case where I think people should be shot for not voting for Pink Floyd.

Check out these non-Dark Side songs:
Song (Album)

Remember a Day (Saucerful of Secrets)
Fearless (Meddle)
San Tropez (Meddle)
Shine on you Crazy Diamond (Wish You were Here)
Careful with that Axe, Eugene (?)
Bike (?)
Comfortably Numb (The Wall)

As for DSOTM tracks - my fav's are:
Breathe
Time (a lot of fun to play on the guitar)
Great Gig in the Sky
Money
Any Colour You Like (my favorite on the album)
Brain Damage

not to mention that Dark Side of the Moon completely synchs up to the Wizard of Oz (You have to know when to start it). For those skeptical naysayers - try it before you comment. I have done it 4 times. Its amazing. Really, amazing. Musically, thematically, lyrically, visually - it synchs up. Props to PF for the work it took to do that.

I haven't done the Dark Side of Oz...heard it's trippy though. I am one of the "skeptical naysayers" though. I heard somewhere that David Gilmour denied that it was intentional (I admit he could be lying to make it all more mysterious), but I refuse to believe that people on that many drugs could have the capacity of mind to do something like that ;)

I heard he denied it too but since it is actually there it must be to add mystery. And you would be surprised what people on "that many drugs" can do.
One example of how it synchs and how this cannot be coincidence:
If you get the timing PERFECT (down to the millisecond - I've only done it PERFECT one in 4 times) the singing part in Great Gig in the Sky plays while the Lion sings "If I were King of the Forest" and the entire songs ynchs up PERFECTLY with the movements of the lion's mouth. There is no possible way that thsi could ever be coincidence. And since DSOTM was made after Wizard of Oz, it has to be Pink Floyd.
Did you ever notice the "random" sounds in the background? They're really not that random.

Amen to that. There's only band I could possibly vote for against Pink Floyd. The things Pink Floyd have done for music ... they're so great that to vote against them is just a disgrace.

Ha, yes indeed. I've heard of one CD-pressing place in Germany that only presses DSOTM. Unless I'm grossly mistaken, it's easily the best-selling CD of all time, and anyone who's made that has to be good, and certainly worthy of a vote.
