Well i realised after i had started battle of bands that i seeded good bands together and crappy ones got through

so here are the options, we can:

1. continue from where we are
2. restart the battle with the same bands but seeded differently
3. a new battle with 32 bands of your choice (i will select the first 30 bands and will choose two of my own)

therfore i will postpone the next battle until this problem is sorted out

Not meaning to discredit you, but I simply prefer the third option. I like us getting to choose our own bands and such. Now, should this option be taken up on, I have two bands for you: U2 and Pink Floyd. If the time comes, I'll leave the others to suggest the bands I know they like.

sorry 2 tell u axver, but u can only choose one band per person and U2 and floydd were in the final of the last one. so the same rule applies 4 them, theywont play. dont give me suggestions until it has been decided.
No discredit to you, because I'm sure that you have worked really hard on this, but I voted to start over with 32 bands...or 64, doesn't matter. I think that U2 and Pink Floyd should both be allowed to play. I thought that this battle of the bands was to give it all another shot and see if the same band comes out on top? After all, the secular forum is now open to all CF members, which might change a lot of the results. Just a suggestion, but maybe we should only include bands that have some sort of credentials for being considered the greatest of all time. For example, the Lost Prophets would certainly not be on any editor's list for the greatest band of all time. I do like the idea of people suggesting bands, but perhaps we should start somewhere. For example, Rolling Stone recently released the greatest 50 artists of all time, and although some of them probably don't apply or belong (Fats Domino, Madonna, etc.) it at least adds validity. Vh1 has released numerous lists and countdowns of artists. If anyone would be interested in seeing those, let me know. Just an idea...

I don't know if this would work, but we could have multiple battles going on at the same time to speed everything up. As long as it is in the same round, it would help us progress to the finals more quickly.

I voted just to restart with new seeding. There were some odd first round matchups. I have no idea how you would seed them, however. The problem is, IMO, that this is all subjective anyway, and the list of bands you pick to be in the tourney will be disputed, as will the seeding you use.

I think the best thing to do might be to do what blackwasp suggested: take a list (like Rolling Stone's) and work from there. That way we have an outside source to work from, and there is no bias by the poll-maker.

I voted option 3 - new battle WITH good matchups in the first round...
and please, have Phish or the Grateful Dead in there (possibly both? :))

The lineups I've seen in all thesre tournaments have been full of pop and alternative bands who will not be remembered in 5 years. Someone has a hit single now - so what? Phish has toured for 20 years, the Dead...well they've toured since the 60s. All to sold out crowds. Their quality of music = super high.

I know this is a stupid and unpopular vote, but I say just finish this one the way it is. It's not like this will be the end all, be all battle of the bands. There will be another after this and another after that and so on until the end of time. Poor seeding and poor bands provide fuel for discussion.

Carry on, then we'll do it again...er...again.

Actually, I think I agree with you. Let's just finish this one out, because no one will ever agree on what bands are in and what the seeding should be.

I think that after this tournament we should have more tournaments, but very specific ones. Like, not have Led Zeppelin and Rage against the Machine in the same contest. Different styles, different eras. Me and Breetai have been discussing new, specific tourneys. A few other friends of mine who I got to sign up for this board are thinking of starting a Jambands tournament.

So, yeah I would like to officially change my vote to "continue from where we are," brettnolan and nadroj did a good job of convincing me :)

well since it is now an open forum u2 and pink flloyd can be included. i think i will go wih the third option, whether it be personal choices or from magazines
I think it would be a good idea to start a separate thread with suggestions on who to include, also suggestions for ratings and stuff.

I like that idea. (I voted to just finish this battle).

Let's finish this one, then do a new one where everyone picks someone. I pick Led Zeppelin.
