  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My kids are going through this stage where potty talk is hilarious fun. Just say the word "toilet" and they will be rolling on the floor (I actually tried this). What is up with that??? Do/did your kids ever act like that? I'm thinking it falls under the category of "whatever is true, pure, honest, lovely, etc....think on these things"

Anyone have opinions?

To SK:

Most kids have it pretty much figured out by Kindergarten.

And Lucy, I know what you mean. My daughter picked up some colorful "humor" when she was in nursery school. She was about three, and one evening she came up to me while I was watching TV and was giggling so hard she could barely talk. She pantomimed putting something on my hair, and said, "Poo-poo on your head."

I was so startled, I had to work like the dickens to NOT bust out laughing. I put on my best "stern mommy" look and said, "We don't talk like that. You won't say that again."

A co-worker informed me that HER son came home from nursery school calling everyone a "Poo-poo-butt."

It's just something slightly naughty, forbidden, and quite hilarious to a little kid.

Peace be with you,
~VOW

Wasn't there a whole video about this last christmas, shreak or shreck, or something like that. I would not let my kid watch it. But I noticed the youth pastor let his son watch it over and over again. Then they had some behaviour problems with him as a result.

I'm not even so worried about my children, as I am about my husbnd!  He thinks bathroom humor is hysterical

My 3 year old will come and inform me, "mommy, I have to go ploop-ploop".  Personally, I think it's kind of cute, only the way a mommy could think that's cute;)

Then she'll hollar, "mommy, wipe my butt"....

We're still working on that one.....

My two year old is discovering the fun words "poopie", "boobie" and "butt". She'll let one fly, then grin and say "I'm poooooopieee". I ask her if she really is and she'll laugh hysterically and say "no, it's just my butt". And my wife is almost uncomfortable disrobing in front of her now, because she yells out "Mommy, your boobies! Boobies, boobies!"

I truly don't know where she picked these things up, and admittedly, the first time was funny, and I laughed, so now she does it for the laugh (she's a ham) If you could hear the voice she uses, you'd crack up too.

Our oldest daughter who will be 4 in the spring has been drawing people with just heads, arms and feet. Until one day she was drawing a picture we started talking about the different body parts she had like, neck, fingers knees and so on.

Days past and her pictures were getting more detailed she included belly buttons and eye lashes and such.

A day later we were sitting at the table after supper and she piped up, Mommy I drew I picture of you and off she went and got it to show the both of us. Mommy had no idea that we had talked about body parts. So she was impressed that it was so detailed and started asking what all was on the picture. There was a circle drawn between mommies legs and she ask what that was.... I laughed so hard, until our daughter said Daddy I drew a picture of you too! It did not seem so funny any more.

Well okay now that she isn't in ear shoot both my wife and I thought it was so funny

I think all kids go thru this stage. When we were potty training we had a book by charmin about the bear and the steps he takes when using the potty and so one night my son is looking at the book and making up a song about it. We laughed so hard. My son is now totally potty trained during the day but at night he still wears pullups. He is such a heavy sleeper. We went to the Dr today and she didnt seem concerned about him being almost 5 and not night potty trained yet. I am wondering when he will be ready to not wear pullups anymore.
