You know, I was sitting around and a thought came to my mind. Once on TV I saw some kids that where staring at something and it was a Mary apparition. I guess the greatest one is The Miracle of the Dancing Sun.

I thought these things where kind of Catholic like events. What are baptists views on these types of miracles? Do you believe in them? I am not sure what to think of them quiet frankly.

While I firmly believe God can and would communicate with us through apparitions and visions, I don't think He finds it necessary. We have the very Word of God almost exactly as He delivered it to the 40 or so writers over 1,500 years. What more is there to say?

I find most of the reports of visions of Mary, or Christ on a waffle or whatever else people come up with, are desperate efforts to come to meet with Jesus on their terms rather than His. It's a scary thing to fall into the hands of the Living God, even knowing He has nothing but good for us. Some people just don't want to meet Jesus on His ground. They want to think they've met Him and received a message from Him without actually having to do anything, or change anything. It doesn't work.

Well, I have read about a Mary apparition that millions of people saw despite there beliefs. I am not sure about stigmas since I think that the body is an amazing thing and they are nothing super natural. But I did find that Miracle of the Sun to be quiet amazing if it did happen. The rain dried up in less then 12 minutes or so after it rained. To be honest though that way this event was described it sounded more like a UFO incident.

(Not saying it was indeed a UFO they saw doing it, it just seems extremely alien like.)

I guess the problem I am having with these is that What if it was indeed from heaven? I don't want to say its from the devil or something like that when its genuine. So what makes you think its demonic in nature anyways?

What saith the Scriptures?
Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,
God speaks by Christ and no other way. Christ speaks by His Word through the preaching of the Gospel. Rom. 10:14
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
(Rom 10:14-15)

I have some thoughts on this:

1) People see what they want to see. People see what they are looking for. Only devout Marians are looking to find visions of Mary in tortillas and tree trunks. In reality the figure of "Mary" could just as easily be anyone else. There's no particular reason it looks like Mary, it just looks like a person with a hood on their head. But they want to see Mary, they're looking for Mary, thus that's who they say it is.

2) Satan tricks people to keep them in false religions and belief systems (God allows it)

3) God also sends people "Strong delusions so that they believe a lie" sometimes

4) Peter tells us that the Bible is more reliable and trustworthy than hearing God's audible voice from heaven:

2Pe 1:17-19
(17) For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,"
(18) we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.
(19) And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,

I believe it's people trying to compensate for the lack of a relationship with Christ. Religious compensation in a sensationalistic sense. It's more appealing to the flesh than the still small voice and the time it takes to cultivate a relationship with Him.

This.

I think this is indeed the case most of the time.

They are fallen angels. Evil spirits.

Thanks. I've seen such folks while fixing church roofs.
Some you may have read about in news regarding young children.

Hello- Good question. For people that might be interested in a similar topic, check out the book titled- "Saints That Raised the Dead", by Albert Hebert. He IS a Marian priest, per se, but he outlines over 400 occasions of the dead being raised via priests and other Godly men. It doesn't have much to do with Mary, but is interesting nonetheless. Yes, this is written by a Catholic priest- but does that negate the written historical findings? Over 400 of them? Before you judge, check out the book itself.
I think this is related to the various Mary sightings over the ages. Is it impossible? No. Is it probable? Maybe not- but we are talking about over a 1900 year history. If there are a dozen or so Marian "miracles" it seems like that is certainly possible.
Could it be demons? Yes. However, demons have no desire to win people to Jesus Christ. Most of her sightings have led many people to Christ. Probably many of those persons were weak people as far as Faith, but the results speak for themselves. Especially in the mission fields at the time, etc.
Just my 2 cents.
Best,
