  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I remeber ballet, I did it for aroudn 10yrs before my health deterioated. I love dance so much I used tyo do ballet, tap, jazz, character and highland, now I want to learn salsa, tango and flamenco! I rmeber my ballet teacher made my mother run over our new demi pointes with a car, she was devestated! My mum used to crochete and blue these little pads to the top of the pointes and even started doing so for my friends cause they were so good. I miss dancing so much, my sister once didn;t cut her toenails and was on pointes and it ripped the toenail clean off......she also has damage to ohne toe so now she can click it..........very strange

What a great topic -- I have been taken ballet for only two years, but was actually strong enough to take pre-pointe this year also. Ballet is a great way of expression, whether you are having a day where you just need to relieve some stress, or you're feeling especially greatful and want to thank the Lord for all he does. I also enjoy ballet because less emphasis is placed on the aspect of sex appeal, as compared to jazz or many types of partner dancing. Just thinking about dancing puts me in such a great mood!

What do you do in pre-point class? I'm asking because I never had one, and never knew it existed.

It's mostly, from what I've head, relevee's and other strengthening exercises to get one ready to go en pointe. I've also heard of it being done with "pre-pointe shoes" which I believe are just pointes with no shank (I'm not 100% certaina bout this though, can anyone confirm?). I think a "pre-pointe class" can also be used to describe a clas were there is a bit of Barre work done en pointe but nothing in center or across the floor.

I found that two things helped me: a good flour, not a scratchy wooden one, too slippery in some parts and gringing in the flour in others, but rather a dance carpet.

The second thing is that you practice going from 4th and then only doing a quarter turn, and stay there as long as you can, balancing.
After that, with enough classes a week it only takes a month or two before you can do the pirouettes almost fearlessly.

I hated doing pirouettes at first too...

You might try to do some diagonals (pique) first...they're easier (or were for me).....or just turn as far as you can....

But be carefull not to have too much speed when you're turning...you just need a little bit to do a whole pirouette.....if you have too much you will fall :)

when you try often enough you'll get it right......it's just a matter of training.....I couldn't do it at first but after 1-2 months I could...so just keep on working on them....

Both my daughters have done 3 years of ballet each. First they did Cecchetti, then Southern Federation then RAD. We moved for my husband's work. This year we gave it up because we had to drive 1 1/2 hours to attend lessons. Because the other girls do two lessons a week in the higher grades, they could not take exams or do competitions. The concert was beautiful. It is hard to look at the ballet things around the house and not feel something.
