Arrggg.... about 12 years ago I had a battle with severe depression.

Now, after 12 years of reasonably good times, I've had some troubles at work and now I'm back in the pit again.

I WANT MY LIFE BACK!

Feeling miserable, tired, stressed and scared is no way to live, its a waste of my life.

This time around, I recognised the signs and went straight to the doctor who has prescribed Lexapro.

Pls pray for me... life is too precious to waste like this.

I got fed up with the emptiness and finally cracked open my bible.

Grab onto that "fed up" and don't let it go away. Your going to need it.

Dear Friend,

Depression is an illness like many others....some say it can be cured, some say if you have enough faith you will be cured...as for me...also a sufferer....I believe in faith, doctors, medication and trying to stay stress free...yeah I know much easier said than done.

This is a new challenge for you....it will pass....it may not seem like it...but it will....and you will be stronger because of it. During my darkest weeks and months of depression, all I wanted to do was...escape...which to me at that time meant to die....I didn't know of any other way to escape.....but ...I'm glad I'm still here, because now I'm around to give God all the glory, and to tell others of His blessings of never letting go of me.

Hang in there my friend....because Jesus will always hang on to you.

Good for you for recognizing what was happening and getting help! I admire your spirit. It took me over a year to "give in" and go to the doctor. I'm now on lexapro and wellbutrin, and the combination is working very well for me. Hugs to you, and I hope you find relief and get back to to yourself soon!

Thanks everyone, its so nice to be able to talk about this without feeling ashamed.

12 years ago, terrible things in my life threw me into a deep depression that looked like the drawing I did below - thats a spider down there in the pit of my mind. At the time, it clung constantly to the back of my skull.

Through that awful experience, the Lord revealed Himself to me when in desperation I cried out to Him and He saved me.

If God was with me then, when I didn't even know him, I know that he is with me now - even though I struggle so hard to trust Him.

There is no way, no way, no way I'm ever going to let it get that bad again.

Yes it is, but don't be too hard on yourself. We all hit pot-holes every now and then. Just remember--who you are in Christ. You are a child of the most high God. Your Father is a King. King of Kings. You are blessed and highly favored. Now position yourself for receiving your lineage.

Look ODAT for the beauty that surrounds you.
Thank God for 7 Things right now. (you can start with the fact that you are breathing if you have too).
Now go secretly and do a good deed for someone (if they find out you did it, it does not count and you must do another). Like you say life is to short--a to do list helps. Call someone and tell them you love them (or at least that you have had them on your mind lately and wondered how they have been). Just start..living, you get a vote, the old adage is get busy living or get busy dieing. Prayers for you--it's not as hard as you think, it just requires a little persistence. Love d.

I feel as though my situation has worsened in the last month or so - a horrible side effect of the ADs is that they make God seem absent.

I'm so used to feeling his Holy Spirit within me always - thats been a one constant since I became a Christian.

But now, I don't feel it. I'm trying to resist not panicking about having fallen away and abandoned (since I haven't been trying to be particularly Godly and have sinned).

I feel like David must have felt when he cried about God having 'taken His spirit away'...

Been there than that. Please be careful to think that God's presence is gone - He is NEVER absent and when our emotions are dulled by illness then God hasn't left at all but rather we have to learn to see\experience Him through our illness.

I also sinned a lot at first - because God didn't exist anymore anyway - yet later when I started to see Him right through my illness on His throne in Heaven, I died a shameful death.

(When you struggle with depression it is not wise to sin indiscriminately our conscious can give us an ugly pounding.)
