  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Funny intolerance. The Poe'd out sort of intolerance you'd expect only on the best Internet forum.
It is a bittersweet loss. I will miss the humor associated with her outrageous comments while not missing the horror of knowing she had a position of power.

What Praying said.

My understanding is that the Honorable U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann will not run for re-election in 2014 as the representative for Minnesota's sixth congressional district.

Her decision does not equate "Backmann Quits" as the title of this thread suggests.
She's quitting Congress, but she is serving out her term.

Maybe she'll move to Switzerland. Doesn't she have dual citizenship? It's a beautiful country and in many ways more civilized than the US. Kinda odd though, that someone so opposed to ACA, would seek citizenship in a place where health insurance is compulsory and benefits and premiums are regulated by the government.

She never sought such citizenship

All this topic thread has demonstrated is how hyper partisan some left-wingers on this board are.

Mrs. Bachmann said her decision was driven by her sense that if eight years was the maximum time in office for a president, perhaps the same limit should apply to a House member.

"Rest assured, this decision was not impacted in any way by the recent inquiries into the activities of my former presidential campaign," she said in the video.

If we take her at her word, then she believes that crogress should have term limits, and she's actually practicing what she is preaching...

We're just not as willfully naive as you are.

I think term limits for the Legislature and the Judiciary are long overdue.
So perhaps if this is the real reasoning behind her retirement then it'll catch on.
As it is in America term limits can only be imposed if those who the electorate hope to impose term limits on, the legislature, vote by a 2/3rds majority to amend the Constitution to that end.

I don't see that happening in this century.

We know it's totally unheard of, especially in politics, when people do something for one reason then dress it up as another, usually more noble, one.

Yet she had it (dual with the USA) for many, many years, if she doesn't have it still.

Lols. If we were that hyper-partisan, we would have made 17 threads on her campaign being investigated. Did you know it was a pastor who blew the whistle (well, one whistle) on her?

It's possible that she convinced herself that that is the reason and not because of the investigations and the unlikelihood of reelection.
