  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Early on we had a Noah's Ark theme picked out as it could be for a boy or a girl, but when we found out we were having a girl, we switched to flowers and butterflies. :) We are not decorating a new room for this new baby at this point, since we already have the major nursery stuff set up in Natalie's room except for the crib, which we rarely used last time.

We bought our set when I was about 7 months pregnant. It is an animal theme, so its sort of gender neutral. We painted the baby's room a pale yellowish-green called "Cheerful" and there's a blue animal border, I guess I could take a picture. This time we're going to have baby share our room with us, but we'll reuse the bedset in the crib in our room, then when baby is old enough he/she'll share with David. I'm not ready to repaint the nursery, but I am going to decorate our third bedroom as a playroom instead.

My babies have all just been our room with us. Now the oldest three share a room- and soon the toddler will move in with them.

Don't have a crib, exactly-- we have been using a co-sleeper as a little porta crib, next to our bed- for Bernadette since she turned about a year old. I'll turn it back to a co-sleeper after Bernadette moves out--that's nice for baby's naps and things--though I just pull baby next to me for nighttime sleeping- then I barely need to be awake at all to nurse.

I'll probably do all that - and get the swing down from the attic when I am about 8 months. That's the extent of my baby gear-- my stacks of diapers have never gotten to the point of being packed away before a new baby yet ! :)

I think if I were going to decorate a baby's room I would decorate with a decor that would be able to suit a boy or a girl (in case later baby had a sibling) and I would also decorate in a style that would last throughout elementary school. Or one that was kind of a base style- that could be updated with accessories as the child(ren) got older--pillows, throws, etc.

We DID NOT decorate gender specific since I knew that I wouldn't redecorate with every child I had. I bought neutral. We purchased the crib and diaper table and glider in a dark cherry wood and the bedding is a sage toile and gingham...
My children have slept in their crib from about 2 weeks (week 1 was spent in the hospital) - I never had a bassinet or co slept with them...

I'm thinking I'll do green or yellow in our baby room because we'll probably have two kids in this house, and I won't be redecorating with #2, especially since we'll be PCSing right after our second child is born (if everything goes as planned).

I like the idea of teddy bears or something just very plain for the baby's room, but I think I'll wait until we move in to our house (5 months to go, w00t) to get something...I'm planning on co-sleeping the first couple of months, anyway, so I'm not too worried.

we picked out an animal safari type theme, it's on our registry.. it'll be great for our little boy, but we can add in some flowers to the decor later if we have girl and it will still work. The room is a nutural biege with some green in it.
