  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ladies with previous pregnancies...How did you know that baby was coming within say, the next say...24 hours? What were the sure-fire tell-tale signs? I know what all the books and stuff say, but I do better with personal experience....you can even go so far as a week before if you want! Thanks! :)

I'm not sure many people have sure fire signs... my Father is a dairyman he says with cows (who are remarkably like women in this area) the appearance of the vagina changes and an experienced stockman could predict within 48 hours... he tried this with my Mother when I was born and he was right.... ony problem is I have no idea what the appearance is and obviously wasn't going to be asking him to take a look!!! My sure fire sign was I was induced :) lol

The bloody show is generally a sign that labour is imminent.

I had period like pains for the last few days of pregnancy, the bloody show came around 48 hours before I gave birth.

Edit to add.

If you have a pet dog you might notice that he/she behaves differently towards you - my dog wouldn't let me out of her sight, she would sit near me at all times and I had to force her to go outside to do her business - and this was really unusual because it was summer and she likes nothing better then to laze around in the sun.

I knew the baby was coming when I was in active labor and asked my husband to take me to the hospital. I didn't have "bloody show" until I was 5cm dilated and they broke my water when I was fully dilated. I was told 3-4 days before I had him...that I'd have him in the next few days as I was stuck at 2cm for a week or more...nothing for sure until I was in active labor and I'm like...yep, this hurts.

Wow, it was different with each baby, so I can't give you any surefire signs (not even losing the mucus plug is a surefire sign~ that can happen Days before labor starts)...

Oh yah~ Except with the 2 that my water broke first. That was Definately a surefire sign. ;) LOL

No signs of labour within 24 hours.

I've have five children and the only sign that they were coming was the labour contractions.

With one of my children I had a bloody show a week before the actual labour. I was on tenterhooks for a week, with nothing in it, basically.

Well I heard that your bowel movements get softer (ie borderline diahrrea) but that is really it except for the contractions. I get regular contractions pretty regularly...but they always eventually taper off. He has quit moving near as much and now all I get is an ocassional push or shove to the gut...but I didn't know what exactly I should be searching for.

well I had really soft stool several hours before Robert showed up.... but that was because the stool softener that they had been giving me for 5 days finally kicked in... water had broken 5 days before that...
