Here's some relief from the the contentious and tiring political threads. An apparently healthy baby girl--named Molly--was born to a TN couple who adopted an IVF embryo that had been frozen for 27 years. Molly was their 2nd child born from embryo transplantation. Her older sister, Emma, was implanted in the mom after being frozen for 24 years. Which had been the record for a frozen embryo. The article notes that the couple was assisted by a faith-based organization which stores unused frozen embryos that are donated by the biological parents. IIRC, embryos resulting from IVF are usually cryopreserved at the blastocyst (200-300 cell) stage. It's quite remarkable that a blastocyst can be maintained in a frozen state for a quarter of a century, and still be viable. Anyone who's pro-life should appreciate this technology.
So how old is Molly? A little over a month? Or over 27 years old?
