Awesome book

Just finished reading the book "Every Man's Battle" by Stephen Arterburn, Fred Stoeker with Mike Yorkey. Every man should read this book - married or single and women should read it to.

It sounds like an incredible struggle men face to be pure in God's eyes when men are stimulated by sight in a society where we are bombarded with sexual stimuli every day. But according to the book it is possible to be devoted in every way to their spouse and God.

I was facing issues in regards to my husband's actions and now i can relate better. Doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants and i accept it, but i can see what a struggle it can be. He always said it was me that had the problem with jealousy but it is mentioned in the book that I am not responsible for his actions/thoughts-he is. He is in the process of reading the book too.

hygienemom... I think it's a great book for women to read as well since most women don't have a very good understanding of what many men are struggling with in this area. It may also help some women understand how their actions/dress/etc. can really affect a man...Michael

Yes women can dress very provocatively and act very forward towards men playing on their weaknesses. Some women love that kind of attention and don't realize the consequences.

Didn't read the book, but I have a chicken-before-the-egg question....maybe it was even addressed in the book?

Are men so visual BECAUSE women have historically worn make-up and attention-getting clothing (since that was all women could do during a time when men would completely make all the moves)? And since men are always getting this eye-candy they just came to prefer it and look for this in a woman?

Or did women start dressing this way to get attention from men and men's level of desire to see physical beauty and expectations have always been the same, no greater now than they have been in the past?
