  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I found it to be a very good program. However, like any kids group run by volunteers, it is only as good as its volunteers. Since it is in your home church, I'm guessing that you should be pretty happy. Be sure to volunteer. There is nothing quite as wonderful as listening to a little child recite God's word.

AWANAS is a children's program where the kids are encouraged to learn and memorize the Bible. It is offered at many different churches and is not tied to one denomination. They have a "uniform" and earn badges that they can wear on their uniform as they memorize Bible verses. There are also fun games and songs and stories that help make the Bible concepts come to life. My kids did this for many years and absolutely loved to go each week. As I helped them learn their Bible verses, I learned them too. :)

How well your kids like Awana (no s:)) depends on the kid and on the individual club

I loved going when I was little. There were fun games, Bible time, and book time, concluding with award time. It was just plain fun. My kids, on the other hand, were not very impressed with Awana, so we did not force them to go. I think for them it was just a little too noisy and busy. Even though our church runs the club well, it attracts a huge crowd. The lesson time and memory verse time reminded them too much of school and homework. So we let them go to a different kids program (not Awana) at a smaller church instead.
