Avril Lavigne has responded to that insane conspiracy theory that she died in 2003 and was replaced by a stand-in named Melissa.

On the latest episode of the Call Her Daddypodcast, host Alex Cooper asked Lavigne up-front about the long-gestating conspiracy theory, which surfaced over two decades ago after the success of her debut album, Let Go. "I mean, it's just funny to me," she told Cooper. "On one end, everyone's like, 'You look the exact same. You haven't aged a day.' But then other people are like, 'There's a conspiracy theory that I'm not me.'"

She joked that, ultimately, there are worse conspiracy theories to be on the receiving end of. "Honestly, it’s not that bad. It could be worse, right?" she laughed. "I feel like I got a good one. I don’t feel like it’s negative. It’s nothing creepy. ... Obviously I am me, it’s so dumb. I think that they’ve done that with other artists. I’m not the only one. I think, like, other people have that."

I'd never heard of this (conspiracy theory about Avril) until I read your OP and title above, and I immediately thought about her terrible battle with Lyme Disease, but she wasn't diagnosed with that until 2014.

Actually, he never existed. There used to be a Lutheran member here (years back) who used the name "St_Worm". I liked that username, so once I knew that he was gone for good, I chose the same name (with a #2 added to it, just in case he does decide to return).

Some conspiracy theories are started by the person themselves (to attract attention to themselves, or just because they're nuts ). I don't know enough about Avril to say anything about that in regard to her, however.

I was speaking conspiratorially.. but Phil and Paul have the same voice style, had the same hairstyle, play the same kind of guitar, and are both left handed. That's a complete doppelganger, conversely Billy Shears though also left handed, and although they tried, is marginally close but no cigar when it comes to looking or sounding like Paul.
