Does anyone else with doubt God exists avoid things. I avoid driving, eating fatty foods, not exercising etc.

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Most of us, or rather all of us with OCD, avoid things, so not to trigger whatever we're afraid of.
I just want to tell you that God does exist, and He loves you very much as a father does to his child. Whatever you are avoiding, don't avoid it but rather face it. Start small, and then increase in facing the avoidences. I used to be afraid of playing video games(yeah you read that right, stupid huh?) and then I just kept on forcing myself to play video games again everyday and now the idea and fear is not there. I would avoid video games because I thought something bad was going to happen with my family or I was going to become a person I didn't want to be. But it's a bull spit, chemicals in your brain, irrational ideas that don't exist. Don't let those lies in your head get to you, remind yourself they are lies.
Avoiding things to prolong hell is not in the Bible, the only way to be saved is by:
1. Being baptized
2. Believing that Jesus Christ died for you and rose again (that He exists)
3. Not get caught up with the things of this world(Choosing to sin rather than fighting to be with God), because if you are of this world then you will end up sinning and totally forget about God and His good will towards you(death of Jesus Christ).
Don't worry, and if you fall under sin well He is just to forgive you, EVERYDAY. It's so difficult avoiding sin on this earth, its IMPOSSIBLE, and God knows what goes inside of our hearts. Not even the people of the Bible (Moses, Noah, Abraham, and numerous others) we perfect and fell on a sin(if you don't believe me go ahead and read the stories of the Bible). We are bound to sin on this earth, but He is just to forgive us because of the sacrifice that was Jesus Christ.
I could tell you right now, and PLEASE FORGIVE ME IF THIS MAKES YOU "SPIKE", but right now I could pray to God and tell him I want to go to Hell. I believe in my heart that God loves me so much as to make something stupid and irrational like that come true. He would not. It's as if my own child who ask me to punch him in the face, me his father punch him in the face?
Message me if you have any questions, and I'm going to make a prayer right now for God to give you strength, knowledge of all the troubles you may have, and comfort from his light. Is that alright with you?
