  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

  • The rule regarding AI content has been updated. The rule now rules as follows:

Be sure to credit AI when copying and pasting AI sources. Link to the site of the AI search, just like linking to an article.

If Covid or even worse pandemics is the new trend, then who will man our industries with endless quarantines??

Either we brave the situation, stop fearing for our mortality (as we Christians ought to be as Jesus taught) and let God-given immune system manage these threats

OR

We double time our efforts in developing fully automated, fully self-sustaining, self managing, self repairing factories / industries.

I have a degree in engineering, got into robotics competition, and eventually became a programmer. So I have a very good grasp of things and can say with utmost confidence we already have the technology to pull these off.

In fact, we already possessed the technology since the 80's. We don't even need AI. We only need to "over-engineer" our robots a bit to facilitate ease of self-repair.

No one seemed to have thought of it but I did to some degree. It's NOT like what you see in sci if movies where a single robot repairs itself out of thin air. It doesn't work that way in reality. I'm not going to elaborate on that and go down to the dirty details.

My point is that if we're going to be ridiculously fearful for our lives (against Christ's teachings) and incurable pandemics are here to stay....

Then self-repairing / self-managing, and self-sustaining full automation / robotics is the key to keep our industry rolling even totally without human intervention / help.

A fully automated and fully unmanned industries and the government simply hand out basic income to everyone since nobody works anymore.

Eventually, we can have AI in the mix. Our police and army will be fully autonomous AI robots. AI doctors and nurses. You get my point

I do get your point. It is also exactly what Satan wants. God intended mankind to work. I sold automation products for about 20 years. It has great benefits, but terrible costs as well. Jobs are disappearing at a tremendous rate. It's not just factory work or mundane tasks that automation is ideally suited to. It's replacing highly skilled jobs also.

You may know the "factory of the future" scenario. I don't remember who forecast this. The future factory will consist of machines, a man and a dog. The dog is there to prevent anyone from messing with the machines. The man is there to feed the dog.

Because men are rational and creative beings, its actually kind of self imposed slavery to do rutine repeating physical jobs 40 hours a week. Automation is the way to go, certainly.

But there is a social problem - some people simply cannot do more intellectual jobs, because of their lower IQ or lack of creativity or insufficient education etc. Any economical system that will massively use automation must also solve this social issue, with, for example, a guranteed basic income for everybody.

Machines must bring people joy and more free time, not fear, the loss of income etc. So we must do it more in the spirit of social democracy than in some cold market driven capitalism.

We don't even need AI.

AI will help us eat correctly every meal based on our bodies reaction to food. This will expand our intellect to it's full capacity. Many are harmed eating chips and drinking soda for a meal. AI will make all human events safer though analysis and data input. AI will help design antibodies to stop diseases. And be re-programmable as well. AI will be driving for us soon. They are now.

The zombie apocalypse might actually happen someday.

I worry humans might become so 'artificial' that they might no longer be able to recognize what is 'natural'. Then we'll have to go back and study 'natural' using 'artificial'.

Yeah, but also dogs need companionship. People are not important but you have to look after the dog.

God intended mankind to work.

And yet, everyone, including many Christians are looking forward to an early retirement...

Automation can do that for you sooner

Some countries in Europe will use the "basic income" strategy so that everyone who lost their jobs to automation would still have an income from the government and spend money.

And with everyone thrown out of work by these automated factories, who will have the funds to buy what is being made?

- Universal basic income
- free food
- limit food production for only those who can pay for them. Allow everyone else to starve
- destroy these automated factories and ban / outlaw automation technology

Eventually, with adoption of AI, even intellectual jobs will be replaced by machines.

In such age, science would no longer be a career but a hobby. At least our motivation for scientific advancement is no longer by greed and money but by sheer child-like curiousity and probably genuine concern for each other's welfare

It depends on the work.

I don't think prostitution is a privilege but rather a symptom of a corrupt society.

Yeah, and then they put us all into a virtual reality and we have to trust Keanu Reeves to save us.

There is a difference between retiring and doing nothing from birth. If you work, you have some control over your income. You can get an extra job, change jobs, get promoted and so on. If the government pays your wage, you are stuck with whatever they decide to give you. They may put conditions on how you spend your money. It's happening in Australia, to some degree, already.

The government in total control of every aspect of your life? What could possibly go wrong?

They may have already. Of course, who would believe it and if there is such a thing as NEO, the world would nail him to the cross and burned alive.

AI is still just a fantasy, we do not know if its possible. All we have now is machine learning and there is always the problem of the Chinese room.

We don't really need AI to make self-sustaining automation. However once we have established self-sustaining automated society and adjustments to economic system, we'll have plenty of free time to develop AI.
