CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One of the arguments Christians and Jews rely on is that God has kept His Covenant with the Jews. We won't perish from the earth. I won't go into the vital essence of this theology for the Church and Israel right now, because it would dereail the thread (and I absolutely disagree with French Affair on his first premise- let's not forget his branch of Christianity has rejected the ancient orthodox, catholic position on this point because of political expediency and not because of truth)
Anyway, it is obvious to me that this atheist needs the Jews to cease existing to somehow prove our sacred texts wrong and thus make some obtuse point about there being no God- a standard atheist argument. My challenge to such people is simple: put your money where your mouth is. I say to them "go to your local synagogue and tell them from the floor that they don't exist or are phonies. Then come back and tell us if you see if there are no Jews left to speak up against you. I'll call the ambulance in the mean time"

This OP and FA's premise is one favoured by Muslims to counter the fact that the Quran says, explicitly, that G_d gave the land to Israel. As they cannot say that Allah has made a mistake, or acknowlwdge from their own point of view that the Land really does belong to the Jews (and not, therefore, to them) the answer is to deny that the Jews / Israel of today are not / is not the same as existed in Biblical times.
It is an argument of convenience, nothing more, nothing less, for which there is no compelling evidence in support.

Amen. The fact that jew of today owns a cellphone, ulcer and other stress induced fancy diseases, doenst mean those are not Biblical Jews, children of Abraham. Judaism is first of all, not about the form, but the spirit of it, and may i say - as a proud Christian- there are adherents of Judaism that are true to the same religion their forefathers had.
While I never cease to hope for my family to share my belief in Yeshua, I wont allow anyone to disrespect Jews in my presence, even online one.

There are no Jews today? That's strange. Atheists always claim to be more reasonable and rational than theists. If reason makes one to make such an unfounded statement like that, then I am glad I am a theist who worships the God of Israel.

1) "Jew" defined as a religious group: if there is no God, then there can't be a chosen people. Therefore, no Jews.
2) He's taking the ridiculous stance found in Shlomo Sand's "The Invention of the Jewish People," (a best seller in Israel...for some odd reason): basically, modern Jews are all descendants of converts, thus disqualifying them as a distinct ethnic group, and the exile never happened.

I was being serious! So why write a book about a non people and a non event? Has the world really gone mad? It's like the man who tells me he doesn't believe in G_d because G-d shouldn't allow these things to happen (think about the obvious flaw in his argument!!!)

Vast majority of European Jews are. Genetic studies show less than 5% of European Jews can even link their genetics back to the semetic people, let alone one of the 12 tribes.
