I really wanna go up to Byron for the Blues and Roots festival this Easter - they have a wonderful list of bands and artists performing - but I won't be able to afford it. I'd probably go on a driving trip for my Australia week and see the sights of our beautiful country!

I KNOW!

I saw the list of bands on Friday - R.E.M, Missy Higgins, John Butler Trio, Cat Empire, George Clinton, Sarah McLachlan, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band, Violent Femmes, The Whitlams, Michael Franti - just to mention a few of my faves!

I SO WANNA GO - but it's gonna cost $315 for the 5 days (without accomodation!) - I considered going for one of the 3 day tix ($240), but I realised that no matter the combination of days they had on the 3 day lists, I wouldn't get to see all my 'must-see' bands...

Would be a good bday present (B's going to see REM the day after the concert - which is my birthday), but I refuse to go by myself, and it'd be far too out of the price range for both of us to go, and get accom as well...

I didn't find out who won Australian of the Year this year - does anyone know? I guess it must have been a more behind the scenes and less well known person, which is good in that Australia's unsung heroes are being recognised

An absolute legend in my books...

My interest in research and nursing would be burns surgery, and improved technique in burn wound care, so her getting this award was fantastic...

An inspiration to working mums everywhere!

It was good to see someone who does a lot of good for the community, but does not have the fame, get something like this for once!
