There are a lot of misconseptions on this thread. However, I will respect your boundaries and not go through them here.

This is only an "apparently Christians only Aussie club" because up until yesterday (or maybe the day before) this forum was in the "Christians Only" section of the board. That's since changed and the fact that you aren't a christian is no longer an issue so please feel free to intrude.

We certainly have no problem with non-aussies. We seem to have an American contingent running around here and the more the merrier IMHO. It keeps the catfights interesting. (j/k everyone. It really was a one off. *crosses fingers behind her back*)

If you want to point some aussie muslims this way, or any muslims if there aren't any aussie muslims, I'm more than willing to have any mistakes I've made corrected. I might not change my mind, but it's always good to know what the other side things of the whole topic.

You'll have to excuse me for not reposting this entire thread in that forum though. I'm much too lazy for my own good and I really don't feel like working on that tonight.

I truly feel sorry for some people on this site, i converted in to islam, although you may find a cross when i post, i just don't know how to get rid of it.
I once saw this programme about an australian boy who converted into islam, he gave up his family just to be closer and to obey the teachings of the Quran.
Nobody forced me to convert into islam, and you say your scared of Muslims, why are you scared if you belive that your Lord is jesus christ, would he not protect you if we are evil.
And when you talk about muslim women wearing an headscarf, do you know why?

allah is derived from the name hubal who was a moon god worshipped at the kaba before mohammed decided there was only one god. Also before Jesus became known to us the hebrew name for God was YHWH (Yahweh) which in english means I Am. Personally i dont see any corrilation.

Also correct me if im wrong but would not the laws about women wearing the hijab come from the hadith rather than the quran and the more stricter laws from the sharia law?

yeh I know...but the muslims place the distinction of using the word allah to being "Their God"


I find islamic view of Jesus to be the most ridiculous because it co-incides with no scriptural reference from the Bible which is older than the Koran.

I was trying hard not to laugh, but they seem to think that Jesus transfigured Judas, so he died on the cross because the Roman soliders thought it was him, whilst Jesus ascended in to heaven for 3days then return to live in north India.

That sounds like a huge conspiracy, which has no evidence except faulty heretical interpertation after Paul had died.

Surprisingly after working with some muslims, a lot of them actually thought Mohummed came before Jesus, and they argued incoherent arguments about Islam, that .... I've been arguing with Atheist for years, but Islam is probably the easiest and yet the most problemsome to argue mainly because a lot of them don't read up and don't understand what they really believe.

They think all Christians go to hell...even though, before the Crusades, nearly all of the Muslims believed that Christians were the keepers of the original patchments and all Muslims and Christians would go to heaven.

This view has changed, which shows how flexible and unstable islam really is.

Not only that, there was a "Doctrine change" after Mohummed died, two groups which came out was the sheites and another group I can't remember.
Anyways, one believed that the head of Islam had to be a decendent of Mohummed and the other thought that the head can be anyone who is a muslim.

Anyways this lead to civil wars..

Which is clearly contradictory to what a lot fo Muslims say, when they say that muslims are always united unlike the denominations fo Christianity.

there arent many muslims in newcastle ! its mainly caucasian christians....did you hear on the news a few months ago about that muslim girl not being allowed to wear her headgear while playing for some rep soccor team? at newcastle uni there are a few more ive noticed in the last 2 years or so...

i think the issues dealing with culture and religion are a lot worse in sydney...its not too bad here. my boss is muslim though (not saying they are all like this) but he regually tells his wife to shut up and go and do what she should be doing...cooking, cleaning etc. it makes me a tad uncomfortable...hmmm..

absolutly, just to confirm that the wraps are not an islamic thing but more of a culture thing. I had to wear one when traveling through the middle east to show respect to the locals and avoid being offensive altho they all knew I was christian esp cause I was also doing work for the church. I know many muslims who do not wear the wrap. usually it is regional thing. and people mistake it for a religious thing even more so when arabs wear the wrap cause islam dominates that part of the world.

ok fistly i totally disagree with having sunni, shei and vabi Muslims, so if any sunni or vabi say's that they are right, how can they be when the holy Quran doesn't mention any of these groups, as a matter of fact the Quran says that muslims should not be divided.
ask these muslims yourself coz i have no idea why they do this.

Dude, whether you like it or not, there are these groups...the Koran was written by one person...Mohummed. Later after his death, the Koran was revised and a lot of the pages were burnt...

To me it doesn't make sense that a religion is based on one man's writing, if he was a philosopher...then it makes sense like confuscious or other chinese philosopher...

But one person bringing on a religion..I don't think so!

Look at the New Testament...you have heaps of eye witnesses writing the NT, and Heaps of Old prophets writing the OT.

But you have one person, mohummed, writing the book of Koran.
Thats almost like the Mormons, John was just one person who wrote the book of Mormons. that itself is a religion...
There are major doctrine differences, but the main difference in system and structure I see, is that Islam is older!

How did Muhammed find out about Jesus, Moses and all these other prohets? and if you think your so clever How did Muhammed now at that time that the earth was round, coz most people belived it was flat and how did Muhammed know about the moon not having it's own light but actually reflected light from the sun, coz years ago we belived that the moon had it's own light,i'm pretty sure mate that he didn't guess all of this. How can he have there are like a thousound shapes in this world and if you look at this on a probability scale it is impossible to guess the right shape of the Earth.
It's all in the Quran and scientists are now finding something that was revealed 14 hundred years ago.

Ok, fine let me pull up something that isn't fictional talk from a mosque, an actual university material.

Muhummed met with Evangelicals and Heretics, in those days they were everywhere in Arabia and all the way to europe. The Nestorians(Heretics) even made it to Japan.

Thats where he got the information about Jesus. A pastor from the Baptist church, once identified a couple of monks that had spoken with mohummed.

Why don't you question these things and answer them yourself rather than reverberate what someone questions you. I've heard this all before form muslims.

In the poems of Solomon(the OT) King Solomon did say the world was round. Infact the idea that the world was round had been in the belief of most people even during that time but it was never proven.
As we move to civilisation, people believed that modularity was a good idea, hence somehow the idea that the world was flat came abouts. I think this was the renaisonance period....but I'm not an expert at that. But never the less, the idea of a flat world was only a brief period of time.

If you look in the Chinese partchments you'd find that the Chinese have an older record that they too believed the world was round. And this was way way before mohummed.

In terms of reflection, this idea came way way before mohummed. I do think that the greeks understood this as well.

In anycase, you haven't studied the origins of belief if you did you'd have known these things.

Also you're mixing science with scriptures...the koran itself is so ambigious that you can twist anything to mean anything. A Christian once studied the Koran and found that it says, using the same scientific context that they use for their other claims, that if you drink urine, it would cure leprosy.

The Earth was never guessed. Mathematics existed way before mohummed, and they used maths to calculate that the earth had the greatest probability that it was round... but the main problem was that no one really went from one side of the world and returned in the other direction until mechanics came in...


If the Quran had all this scientific knowledge, why was it never used to advance the technology?

Instead, what nearly everyone except Muslims, are seeing is that when a research paper is done, the Muslims immediately go to their korans and pull up things that vaguely says one thing and hence take that into some scientific truth... And the koran says many things....

In anycase, what do you think is the next BIG IDEA from the koran that science will pull out?
Maybe Quantum Engineering with the pull out of tunneling neutrinos?

Prove it please, I read the first page and I find it inconsistant with the sentence after it...I can't stand to read things that has no logical flow in it's sentence.

The Koran is written by one man, which that one man testifies to be God written....which doesn't stand well in court.

The Bible itself is something of a marvel, so many authors, unknowningly through God, builds up his kingdom through his son, Jesus Christ. Many Authors, one mindset...thats hard to retain, and it's impossible for people to do it today and last for 15yrs keeping the same mindset....let alone 6000yrs

Eratosthenes used verticle sticks and the sun's shadow to calculate the circumference of the earth to within a couple thousand miles in about 200 BC

lol muhammed did not know how to write, so how can he have written the Quran, in the Quran Allah say's that he has seprated the water into two meaning salt water and plain how did muhammed know this, jeez he must have been the cleverest man on Earth.
Satan certainly didn't write the Quran, the Quran clearly states that satan is an enemy and that he guides us the wrong way, why in the blue hell would he write this about himself.
