I'm a layman, and I just started reading Augustine's "Confessions." Is there anything I should keep my eyes out for, or anything that I should keep in mind when studying this material?

I don't know what particularly to suggest, except to go into it just expecting to hear about one person's spiritual journey. It's quite amazing and one of my favorite works. If you have thoughts you'd like to post as you go along, I'd love to chat about it.

The scene in which he speaks with his mother in the Ostia port resonates with me deeply.
