• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was looking through some of my older CDs the other day, and what do I find but the Newsboys' album Shine? Not having heard that CD for years, I (naturally) play it and the song Breakfast comes on. It was deja vu for three minutes straight. Eighth grade just came rushing back. OK, not ALL of eighth grade, just some of the better bits. (the most I could find online was the 30-second sample here http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004ZDML/002-2508862-6332814?v=glance)

What song or CD brings it all back for you?

My older cds all have some significance for me ... well, not necessarily older. Whenever I listen to Now by Greg Long, I think of a two hour traffic jam in Chicago ... Switchfoot's song "Only Hope" reminds me of my ninth grade chorus concert :D ... and Do You Know This Man? by Al Denson reminds me of the long drive back after a day of hiking at a local state park. *thinks*

The oldest 2 albums I still pop into the CD player are The Dingees -- 'Armageddon Massive' and Plankeye -- ' The One and Only'. They aren't anywhere close to my top records anymore, but when I remember how great I thought they were when I first got them and how important they were in shaping my taste (AM was my first punk record, and TOAO was my first rock record after being into hip-hop for months  ).

As to what my first Christian CD ever was, well it's better if you don't know.

Definitely Shine. A friend lent it to me a couple weeks ago, and I felt like I was 12 again. Also, Fear of God, John Reuben's Are We There Yet?, and the songs Fast Car by Tracy Chapman and Yellow by Coldplay take me mback to grade 7. Ginny Owens makes me feel like I'm at camp

HHHmmmmmm....lets see you were born in 86' so..........Let me just say they are a great band and paved the way for CCM ( in some ways ) to go mainstream.......(I can still remember seeing " calling on you" video on MTV)
BUT, have you really taken a close LOOK at the clothes they wore.....very scary
.....What i'm trying to say is, if you were there in the 80's and had the mullet and leather jacket thing going as I did..........you wouldn't think it was so cool when you looked at your yearbook pic's........hehe
