• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The process of human change begins within us. We all have tremendous potential. We all desire good results from our efforts. Most of us are willing to work hard and to pay the price that success and happiness demand.
Each of us has the ability to put our unique human potential into action and to acquire a desired result. But the one thing that determines the level of our potential, that produces the intensity of our activity, and that predicts the quality of the result we receive is our attitude.
Attitude determines how much of the future we are allowed to see. It decides the size of our dreams and influences our determination when we are faced with new challenges. No other person on earth has dominion over our attitude. People can affect our attitude by teaching us poor thinking habits or unintentionally misinforming us or providing us with negative sources of influence, but no one can control our attitude unless we voluntarily surrender that control.
No one else "makes us angry." We make ourselves angry when we surrender control of our attitude. What someone else may have done is irrelevant. We choose, not they. They merely put our attitude to a test. If we select a volatile attitude by becoming hostile, angry, jealous or suspicious, then we have failed the test. If we condemn ourselves by believing that we are unworthy, then again, we have failed the test.
If we care at all about ourselves, then we must accept full responsibility for our own feelings. We must learn to guard against those feelings that have the capacity to lead our attitude down the wrong path and to strengthen those feelings that can lead us confidently into a better future.
If we want to receive the rewards the future holds in trust for us, then we must exercise the most important choice given to us as members of the human race by maintaining total dominion over our attitude. Our attitude is an asset, a treasure of great value, which must be protected accordingly. Beware of the vandals and thieves among us who would injure our positive attitude or seek to steal it away.
Having the right attitude is one of the basics that success requires. The combination of a sound personal philosophy and a positive attitude about ourselves and the world around us gives us an inner strength and a firm resolve that influences all the other areas of our existence.

We can either have a good attitude that
Changes those around us for the better
As well as for ourselves
Or a bad one in which others around us
Will start to stray from us one by one
But also it will affect us most of all
In the long run!

Thanks for a great thread, and responses.

It is good to remember that God is able to guide our attitudes, if we surrender them to Him. The battle really does commence in the mind, and the adversary is defeated there as well, with the grace and mercy of our Lord. Praise God for His many spiritual blessings!

Ephesians 4:22-24 AMP:
22 Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion;
23 And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], 24 And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God's image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness.
May we strive to have the attitude and the mind of Christ.

Philippians 2:5 AMP Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]
I pray that God opens our hearts and minds today so that we may grow in Christ. May we overflow with enthusiasm and burn with zeal for a changed attitude!

Philippians 3:15 AMP So let those [of us] who are spiritually mature and full-grown have this mind and hold these convictions; and if in any respect you have a different attitude of mind, God will make that clear to you also.
Rev 3:19 AMP Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].

Thanks again for a wonderful reminder!

Your sister in Christ,
EarthMomma

Be like the pebble
Knocked and scrapped
Edges jagged and rough
Broken and removed

Be like the pebble
Smooth and round
Heart now submitted
Yielded to the Lord

The choice is ours
To be the rough stone
Others sharp edges
Does it break?

Or

The smooth stone
Neatly sitting
Ornaments or jewellery
It has become

its polished surface
delights the eye
pleasing the master
well done good and faithful servant
He declares

For that , tomorrow is not ours the result of what we do today is with Him. It doesnt mean that we sit idle. I think it's more imporant to judge what we are today in our Jesus Christ. Our attitude and behaviour should be like that of what our Jesus Christ said.

Amen, what a great reminder here!

We have a precious gem that sits on the front of our fridge door that speaks of the impact of attitude. It's a quote from Charles Swindoll, which goes like this:

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church... or a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for tgat day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes."

Question then: How's your attitude today?

It depends really on my mood
If I am in a bad mood, then don't get
On my bad side at all as you really don't
Want to even go ther4e.
But if I am in a good mood, I can really
Be cheerful and down to earth.
