This group sounds alot like the Lutheran group in this area, very warm, open and welcoming

Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. This group sounds alot like the Lutheran group in this area, very warm, open and welcomingI don't know about that. The people coming in to discuss generally do have roots in Adventism as well, even if they are now Lutherans, Baptists, etc.
The difference between GT and here is that the issues center around Adventism or Adventism's take on other subjects, rather than a variety of topics.
Progressives do not mind discussion from MANY viewpoints. So they are not threatened by the type of conversation you speak of. They may at times be bored of it, but that is why you can ignore the topics you don't want to read.
Progressives do not seem to be yearning for relief from outsiders discussing.

so does this mean you have felt intruded on by them in here as well now that you have your own place?I think that if you recognize "traditional" Adventists who insist on adherance to the 28 Fundamental Beliefs as a secondary group (along with the "no ties whatsoever"), you'll understand the reason for this forum a little better.
well thats the thing, sounds like you like debate in here(not alot of forums do in this area), what most do is have healthy debate amongst themselves but limit the same from their "guests" is that what you want too?Edial,

What I think we wanted (eons ago) is to allow unlimited discussion and even debate if people felt they needed to do that without flaming.... Victor comes from another forum where debate was the primary means of engagement, however discussion, review, and/or dissecting issues here would be the primary means of engagement as I see it....so does this mean you have felt intruded on by them in here as well now that you have your own place?

from what i gather if you do want unlimited debate(the other extreme) you guys could benefit from how the Lutherans are doing it in their forum which seems to be the most open to outsiders debating in there, Ed can help in that regard

ok thats really better fitting a faith group anyway, it gives you a better sense of family here when the emphasis is on discussion... are their any topics that "guests" shouldnt bring in here? things that you dont want to hash out? things that offend you guys that you dont want to be debated here?I think we have tried to make this more of a discussion place vs a place to debate... The goal being sharing and learning from the topics discussed as opposed to trying to convert everyone to our way of thinking....

yep... I was here, and the experience was trying as I remember.... the rub of course was the claim of some as being true adventists and everyone who did not share those views were labeled as the spawn of satan......oh good that makes things easier then

The longer text you highlighted is too bulky. I think a couple of sentences is fine. I just wanted to give folks an idea of where progressives were coming from.so very well put Tall this is something that can go right into a SOP

Everyone in the SDA church is in a different stage of rejecting the teachings of EGW. Even the most hardcore traditional SDA's on this forum run away from her teachings when questioned. I would call this forum a place where SDAs or people interested in SDAism come to discuss what the church is and what it should be.
I would say yes that makes me an SDA dissident, but so is anyone who rejects the 18th fundamental belief of the SDA church as found on their official website:
