I attended my first Divine Liturgy on Sunday. It was the first time I've gone to any church service in about 20 years.
I was really up in the air about going. Part of me wanted to be lazy and really dreaded going but this is nothing new for me. I feel like this a lot these last several years, like I'm just hurrying up and waiting to die or something. But I decided I needed to just get up and do this.
I have to say, that it was a very unique experience for me. The service engaged all of my senses in a positive way and the sermon was good. I kind of found all the singing a bit distracting and hard to follow or make out what they are saying. The form and flow also takes some getting used to.
Surprisingly, my wife was really interested in hearing about it afterward. I am hoping we can start going together sometime when her work schedule changes.
I think I'm going to start going. Pray for me, my friends. I am not a depressive or anything like that, I am just so accustomed (perhaps hard hearted) about going out and interacting with the world beyond my home. To me, it is a bit daunting. There are many things in my life that I would like to see change.
