• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The euphoric fedora types are insufferable. Those guys are a big part of the reason I avoid forums that are specifically for atheists.
Yeah people who think they are the bees knees because they belong to a specific group used to really really amuse me.

Then I ran into the "oh wow ur stupid u belif in god" atheist.

They are the CoD players of religious discourse.

I love religion and like to see what the other said has to say about things. I also want to push Atheist festivities onto others like:
The Annual Baby Eating Competition.
The Immoral Convention
and The Soul Trade. ^_^

Kidding aside though I was a Deist hopping between religions testing out the waters and I liked to be attached to my native group(Christians) to reassure myself why I stopped being a Christian and frankly it has worked.

Atheists like Indiana Jones? I'm not sure what type you mean.

eudaimonia,

That would be awesome, and that's the message we should be sending to the general community about what atheists are like, lol..

Oh, Marcus. What are you trying to do, scare me? You sound like my mother. We've known each other for a long time. I don't believe in magic, a lot of superstitious hocus pocus.

Yup, right image. Too bad Spielberg ruined it with the ending to the movie.

What does spiritual mean?

To me, spirituality refers to a vantagepoint one has on the deep issues of life (assuming one has one), and being a spiritual person means to have an interest in improving one's vantagepoint on such issues for the sake of personal growth or transcendence.

I sometimes refer to myself as a spiritual atheist.

Carl Jung might be a good example of someone who was a spiritual agnostic, which would be similar to a spiritual atheist?

I still cannot depart the word spiritual from New Thought and idiotic theology

I think that Carl Jung is solidly "gnostic" theist. Did he ever call himself an agnostic?

I'm thinking that Carl Sagan may be a better famous example, even though he called himself an agnostic.

Not sure. I have read some of his work and he had the view that God may or may not exist from what i gathered, which made me think he was more agnostic then gnostic. But who knows. It's a fine line between the two sometimes. :)

I am just wondering why y'all joined the Christian forums. Not upset, I enjoy chatting with you guys. Just curious, what made you seek out to join a Christian forum?

God Bless

Several reasons:

-intellectual discussion back and forth, which is usually more stimulating when you have differing views, as it gets boring when everyone agrees.
-The entertainment value. Some on CF, are simply entertaining to observe how they justify their beliefs.
-Being a psychology buff, there is tons of interesting stuff on CF and it always interests me to see the different personalities, motivations and psychology in play on this site.

It is like New Age but worst. They really emphasize the word spiritual and Oprah is it's primary supporter. So the minute I hear this quacky term I think of Oprah and 99% of her stupidity.
I do not like using words that have no meaningfulness outside of my own subjectivity. Spiritualism has no objective nor subjective meaning that infers upon my mind anything significant. Much like the word god

Fortunately, Oprah and "New Thought" (whatever that is, I don't watch Oprah) did not invent the term spirituality, and don't have a copyright on the term. :) I can understand how the word would be a turnoff if you are associating it with her! Yikes!

I do not like using words that have no meaningfulness outside of my own subjectivity. Spiritualism has no objective nor subjective meaning that infers upon my mind anything significant. Much like the word god

Okay.
