  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Atheists, What's the point?

The point of atheists is that they believe in Godlessness. They think nothing came from nothing. They believe that and they want to SPREAD the lessness around.

I have met atheists online that have been really sweet to me, even defended me when some other christians wouldn't about my stripping and peep shows but sadly I havent met any atheists in real life that werent mean to me, really mean to me: including saying I am not christian because I did a bikini car wash with my girlfriends and that they have the power to cast spells on our church. I hope to meet more atheists in real life like the ones I've met online.

The point of christians is that they believe in torturing. They think good things came from the pain and death and suffering of some guy a long time ago. They believe that and they want to SPREAD the torture around.

Oh no? Is that not what you believe?

Here's a novel idea. You don't tell atheists what they believe, and we won't tell you what you believe.

The question was: Atheists: What's the point? I gave my opinion on what I thought the point was. I also said that atheists (online anyway) have been nothing but nice to me and I love those relationships, I don't really judge people, I like to be friends with a lot of different types of people as long as they know that me+mygf time is me+mygf time lol. I don't mind atheists that have been nice to me and even defended me, they are great people and we are friends.

Cast spells on your church? Were they atheists, or witches? There's a big differnce.

The question was: Atheists: What's the point? I gave my opinion on what I thought the point was.

I guess the question is: why do you get to tell me what I believe? You can give your opinion, but seeing as I'm far more of an expert on what JGG believes than you, perhaps I can serve as the authority in this case?

Probably both but they were from an atheist of the month club or something weird we have in the neighborhood. I didn't care really if they wanna get together on Friday night and have cookies.. I don't care if they wanted their car washed. I LOVE the business. What I didn't like was them coming at us representing themselves as atheists and pointing to our outfits and saying "Look at you, you call yourself Christian, you all look like your practically naked in the church parking lot doing all this nasty stuff for your so called "flock," I am sure you would agree that these are the atheists that give atheists a bad name?

I don't wanna tell u what to believe. I am christian, you are atheist, thatss fine, like I said I like to be friends with a lot of different types of people. I don't wanna impose my religion on you if you dont wanna try to convert me to atheist. I love my Lord.

Yes, that's possible. However, atheism and witchcraft would seem somewhat incompatible.

Great. I'll bring the drinks.

I realize that you are talking about the atheists you have met in person, and that they've given you a rough time, but I'd like to reply, because I am certainly an atheist.

The point of atheists is that they believe in Godlessness.
I don't "believe in Godlessness". I believe that human life is something precious and that we ought to make the most out of our lives in this amazing natural universe in which we live.

They think nothing came from nothing.
I don't think "nothing came from nothing". (I'll assume you mean "something came from nothing".) I don't think that the universe popped into existence out of nothingness. Physical reality has always existed, in my view.

They believe that and they want to SPREAD the lessness around.
I'm not trying to spread "lessness" around, but rather MORENESS. The "more" simply doesn't have to do with God, but with the flourishing of human beings in our amazing natural universe.

I am truly sorry to hear of your bad experiences, but weren't they specifically with feminists?

I am sure you would agree that these are the atheists that give atheists a bad name?
Personally, I can't imagine atheists threatening others with spells. I have my doubts. Certainly, they do give atheists a bad name if they are in fact atheists.

How exactly did they represent themselves as atheists? Did they walk up and say, We're atheists!"

Except for the spellcraft part they sound more like Christians.

No, they have their little t-shirts and are known for protesting around. Theres like 5 or 6 or 7 of them at a time, you never know cause one drops out, one went to jail and got out on bail, anyways, its weird. But ya, they have harrassed us and our church.

Most of the atheists I met online are GREAT people and I totally love them. I know its a big world and thats probably why. Its just my personal experiences in real life that have made me think that about those people, I mean come on, if it happened to you, how would you feel?

Hi mandyangel I'm an atheist and I disagree with that statement.

I sincerely hope you never meet any mean atheists like them again.

I totally agree.

Sounds great! I'll bring the sunscreen. :)

As an atheist I am ashamed these people treated you all the way they did. I want to offer you an apology for their verbally abusive behavior towards you. There is no excuse for it. :sorry:

What do the t-shirts say? What exactly do they protest? Which church? Which town? It's nothing personal but I'd like to try to look into this. It all sounds very strange for an atheist group....especially the casting "spells" part.

It stands to reason that if this group is seeking attention through protests and t-shirted members, its likely they have a website we can look up. It's possible that they've made the local news too if they've been harassing churches...something else we could look up. Can you provide any info on this group? Their name? Their town? Which church they've been harassing? Anything?

I believe this thread was addressed to atheists. If you wanna comment maybe you should wait for someone to start a thread titled "christians what's your point".

They said they have the power to cast spells?? Ohhhhkay then. I presume they, like ALOT of online atheists, like to attempt to "deconvert" you by using the "you're delusional" nonsense. Okay, fine I'm delusional --off with you now!! I've come to conclude its the only way to handle some of them. God loves them and He loves you and only asks that you share the love of Christ with them but if they should poke at you and attempt to mock you then move on and leave them to their folly.
Like yourself I've exchanged with a few (very few) atheists that are very kind and understanding people. On the other hand there have been atheists that have interrupted our church service in the past. I would like to think this is not a representation of the average non-believer.
The love of God is adequate and if you have made the decision to follow Christ don't let anyone try to take that away from you but I would also say that as Christians its really a good thing that you have experienced the kind of behavior in real life that you mentioned. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about but PM me if you are unsure.

God bless you as you continue your walk with God.
