CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, I don't think atheists are inherently evil. As a matter of fact, I would be just as guarded voting for a pronounced atheist as I would voting for someone who proclaimed to be christian. Unless of course, I knew the person and I could say that he or she was definitely a christian.

To be fair, though, I was going more for the hardy-har-har silly. Not sarcasm. Honestly, politicians who invoke religion at all, regardless of party, irks me one way or another, as it's clearly a political move. I don't care how faithful they are in private, or how "genuine" they are. I'm not opposed to Christian politicians...but those who mention it (and that's eeeveryone nowadays) just stink of pandering.

Just like I haven't discovered the facts that there aren't unicorns.
That's what atheism is all about. Basing things off logic. Asking yourself which is most likely or most unlikely.
Now what I'm referring to my friend is things like what we are doing right now. Never before has the world been so connected. Viewpoints from all over the world can be shared. Things like Wikipedia and such sources help correct people, including me. I have been wrong on many things. I have been corrected by both theist and atheist/agnostics etc.
This philosophy and practice is growing.
