At least 13 people are dead after a gunman opened fire inside a crowded dance bar in Thousand Oaks, California, Wednesday night, says Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean, per the AP. The fatalities include one deputy; the gunman also is among the dead.

My god, it even says the crowd (I assume they refer to the crowd inside the bar where this shooting took place) included survivors of a mass shooting last year. How can something this terrible happen to the same people twice?

You really bring up a good point about that being an eye opening statistic. (going through that twice is insane!)

I'd have to think that at some point, people will wake up to the reality that these things just don't happen as frequently in other places and that some of these things can be prevented.

That's the real tragedy here. We all know this shooting and the recent synagogue shooting will soon be replaced by some other mass murder event in just a few weeks time. This has become an inescapable problem in our society.

I’m afraid nothing will change until it starts negatively affecting people’s pockets. Seems money is the only true motivator in this country and currently there is much money to be raked in with the more guns will stop the violence rhetoric.
