I think it should stayed called "Christian Forums" because many members both Christian and Not agre to become members of CHRISTIAN forums. If a non-believer joins the forum it means he/she is looking for CHRISTIAN forum, whether for answers to the questions, debate or just safe environment.

I do not think Forums should be STRICTLY Christian, it should embrace as many members as possible, even if the are not Christian. It should not DIVIDE, but unite and WELCOME non-Christians. I am not one of those that think that they should not associate with non-belivers!

PLEASE! STAY CHRISTIAN FORUMS!!!!!! Just look how it grew being CHRISTIAN!

I agree that this is one perk of having open forums, and I don't disagree with having them. I do disagree with holding a position of internet evangelism, though, as I don't see many benefits of maintaining that as the central point of the site, unless one is of the opinion that orthopraxy is more important than orthodoxy. I think both need to have priority, not in exclusion of eachother.

No, I'm talking about the one salvaged by Jesus in his suggestion that the one without sin be the one to cast the first stone. (some versions suggest she was an adulteress, others a prostitute).

The lesson is tolerance and not judging others. The old CF was all about intolerance and judging everyone. If that's what Christians wish to return to, then they are demonstrating a decided distaste for the very values Jesus is said to have promoted and taught.

That's the same one I'm talking about! Wow! I mean, the "Cast the first stone" thing, being a chastisement to their own involvement with the very same prostitute brought before Christ and all. How else would they have "caught" her?

Huh? Where is that tought in the Bible? Surely not in the Pauline Epistles, or the gospels, where Christ routinely condemns people for not believing in Him.

Let me clarify the current status of Christians-only areas as best I can:

As far as I know, the formerly Christians-only areas are now open for posting to all CF members. The only exception to this is the Christian Teens subforum, where they may elect to tag threads [CO], or Christians Only, which will alert non-Christians not to post in there. Erwin has stated that other subforums may go this route as well; however, the core rules currently state that they may not, as we have members that wish the site to remain open. The person who added this to the core rules has invited anyone who would wish to make the option of [CO] tags available outside the Christian Teens forum to discuss the pros and cons of such in the relevant discussion forum.

Of course, the formerly Christians-only areas are predominantly Christian, making it unlikely that a non-Christian would end up moderating there if they did not wish it so.

Again, this is just my current understanding; I may be wrong in some of the particulars.

Exactly!

It was a kingdom/community held captive by those who would have themselves be kings -- beyond reproach and answerability. That's simply not consistent with what Christians present as being Christian values.

Yes, Yes, and Yes!!!

I do not think one should take precedence over the other! Agreed! It should be both. The TRUEST definition of a Christian site should be BOTH!

No, I disagree. It has been segregated, splintered, beaten, controlled and split up... but every part of it has been Christian.

Everyone who came here came looking for a Christian Forum. The variety of people here speaks for the power of that draw.

The discord is, in my view, a part of Christianity itself - it cannot be overcome. But it could be lessened, and the new changes are a way to do so.

Well... Mods are also humans like all of us... I agree that modding is not always immaculate and I know that often mods opinions/political views would interfere.... this is not the question. I belive the forums should stay Christian.... whatever mutitude dominations it would embrace!

That's always been one of the reasons I like having a more hierarchical organization than a flat organization like we currently have. I'm okay with having open forums, as I said, and I really appreciate the FSR's, but I don't like the idea of identifying "Christian" as "Whatever you want it to be", or the idea of staff elections and open staff forums. I also don't' like the idea of non-Christians being allowed to be on staff.

I am talking about the fact when it came to Warnings/Bannings/Abusing certain groups it was a particular brand of "Christians" who were doing it.
