I recently started doing Real Estate, and am having a very difficult time getting started in it. Recently I have felt a tug at my heart to go into nursing. I went into Real Estate for the flexible schedule and the potential unlimited income. Needless to say, I've sold one house and am becoming very discouraged. I know if I went into nursing I would make really good money, and it would enable my husband and I to get out of debt extremely quickly. I'm just torn, and I'm not sure what to do at this point. PLEASE pray that God will show me HIS will!!!!

Father please give Your guidance. You promised us that if we ask for wisdom You will give it and not scold us for having to ask. Thank You.

Real Estate is very challenging and not quite as flexible as many people believe. Those who make big $ work all weekend every weekend, all evening most evenings prospecyoing for listings 60-80 hrs a week is not uncommon. If you choose nursing and have the funds or can get grants to get training consider looking for a 3 day schedule 12 hrs a day or 2 weekend days 12 -16 hrs if free time is your priority. But please be sure you are confortable in a patient care setting, do some volunteer work in a hospital or nursing home etc. Nurses who do this mainly for $ urn out very rapidly it is demanding and exhausting.

While nursing makes good money, it's not something you can get into overnight. It takes two to four years of training, depending on the program and the level of education you want.

My sister is a nurse, and it's very hard work. She had to lift a patient when she was 6 months pregnant and ended up losing the baby due to the strain of lifting.

Also, nurses have a high rate of burn-out because the work is difficult and relentless. You can't go into a room to get some peace for a moment, because your patients are always needing something.

Instead of just picking careers that sound good, why not take a career test at your local community college and get some advice from friends and love ones, as well as exploring the career, like on a tag-a-long day with a professional in whatever career?

Cammie, I'd stay in Real Estate. My when my friend started selling homes, she had the same problems you are at first: she sold one home and seemed like it was forever before she sold her second. It didn't take her long before she was making 6 figures easy.

However, do what your hear says is right.

Your in my prayers.

I would suggest taking a nurse's aid course before entering into a nursing program. The course is shorter (a few weeks long), and then you can work as a nurse's assistant and get an idea of the type of work they do and whether or not you will be able to handle it. My mom has been a nurse for 20 some years now, and she loves it, but it is not for everyone. Continue to pray about it, and I'm sure God will show you the path to take. :)

I should have updated you guys sooner! Not even five minutes after I made this request (I had been praying that whole morning, too), I got a call from my office. A woman had quit, and that was going to free up a lot of floortime (where you take all of the business that comes in that day). I took that as a major sign that I need to stay right where I am. Thank you all for your prayers and support!!!
