This does not fit into any category here, I try to put it in a place where the mis-fit is minimal.
I watched the inauguration today, and there was a prayer from the pastor of Kamala Harris. It ended with the word "... in the mighty name of our common faith. Amen."
Now I'm familiar with the American (generally English?) habit of ending a prayer with "... in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.", often with some embellishment like "our mighty Lord" or so.
But replacing Jesus by faith? Did he want to include non-Christians (do we have a common faith with them?)? I'm rather confused.
PS: I learned about "English language prayer" long ago, in Korea: I tried to pray in the midst of my prayer something like "... and in the name of Your son Jesus I pray: ..." and was interrupted by a Chorus from the whole prayer group
which finished my prayer.
