Since faith is about those things that we cannot actually see or touch, do we ever really KNOW that we are saved?
So often, in my ministry, I hear people say something like, "I believe that I am saved, but you can't really know until you get there, so I guess I have some doubt." or, "Yes, as far as I know, I'll go to heaven when I die--no one knows but God," I remind them of this verse:
1 John 5:13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Isn't God wonderful that He wants us to rest assured! We can really know.
Just wanted to share.

yes i have encountered this many times. One time that sticks out is a letter corispondence between myself and a neo-mormon. He did not beleive in Grace salvaton. That is completely true Tommy. God so loves us that He not only saves us, but wants us to rest in the assurance of His work in us.

Thank God that we can rest on His promises and be assured of salvation!

I had a professor years ago who was one of the most humble, wise, godly and devout Christians I have ever met.

He noted that he was 99% convinced of his salvation. He said that, any more would bring conceit and arrogance and that would be sin.

Something the Lord has shown me recently, through all my struggles, is that my assurance IS Him!. God IS our Salvation. If we have God, we have salvation, and God-the Holy Spirit himself living in us is that assurance. This is my second post, so I don't know what I'm doing exactly or if I'm doing this right. I didn't read all the posts but I just wanted to share this....I had for a long time been looking at myself for my assurance to salvation, that is my performance, whether or not I sin, etc., or what I saw in my heart. But as one had posted, we are justified by faith. Our faith is in our salvation--GOD, himself!!! Matthew 6:33 says "But seek ye first the kingdom of God..." and the kingdom of God is within us--the spirit of his Son within our hearts crying Abba, Father....I know many other people out there have this revelation of the truth...God bless you all.

If you have no fear of God's judgement or that he is not watching over you, then you know. This is not to be confused with "fearing" God which has to do with reverence, awe, and respect.
