The following is entirely from Wiki:

The Assumption of Mary is one of the four Marian dogmas of the Catholic Church. Pope Pius XII defined it on 1 November 1950 in his apostolic constitution Munificentissimus Deus as follows:

We proclaim and define it to be a dogma revealed by God that the immaculate Mother of God, Mary ever virgin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven.

Views differ within Protestantism, with those with a theology closer to Catholicism sometimes believing in a bodily assumption whilst most Protestants do not.

Mary was the mother of Jesus in his human form, the Holy Spirit was his father in his divine form. Mary is only called the mother of Jesus in scripture. I don't believe in adding to scripture.

Pius XII was the pro German pope who was the subject of a debate in one of the English universities "Should the pope be tried as a war criminal?" After the war he got many Roman Catholics off at Nuremberg claiming they were political prisoners wather than war criminals, such as Franz von Papen, one of the men who got Hitler into power.
