I expect I would believe whatever I was told by the person I most respected.
They may, or may not, have been right.

In fact, that's exactly what I, did on many issues, until I discovered the Bible.

I still find it frequently challenges me to reconsider received wisdom on many issues.

Blessings, Susana

How old would you think the Earth was?

Think about it, if the bible had never been created, and all you had to go on was science, how old would you consider the Earth to be? Please try to be honest to yourself....
To be honest I don't know. Many nonchristians, before the idea of evolution, also thought the earth was young. To calculate the age of the earth without the bible you have to rely on many assumptions. If those assumptions are wrong your calculations will be way off. That being said it's extremly stupid to have someone who created everything and was there at the time tell us how it happened but instead still rely on assumptions, many motivated by people that don't want a creator in the picture to begin with.

What would you think about GOD if there was no Bible? Would you look at the earth and go "oh its GOD?" If there was no Bible we most likely would not know much if any about Jesus Christ. All we would have to go on is what science tells us about the earth. And for the most part science does not talk about God.

AIG has a site that lists the following as physical evidence of a young earth.

1. Galaxies wind themselves up too fast
2. Comets disintegrate too quickly

3. Not enough mud on the sea floor

4. Not enough sodium in the sea

5. The Earth’s magnetic field is decaying too fast

6. Many strata are too tightly bent

7. Injected sandstone shortens geologic ‘ages’

8. Fossil radioactivity shortens geologic ‘ages’ to a few years

9. Helium in the wrong places

10. Not enough stone age skeletons

11. Agriculture is too recent

12. History is too short

In addition to the evidence for a young earth, there is a growing body of evidence that refutes the arguments evolutionists typically use to build a case for an ancient world.

The formation of varves once thought to have occured over long periods of time has been observed to occur rapidly during natural catastophes such as volcanic eruptions near water, floods, and hurricanes. The sloping sand 'dunes' found in parts of the Grand canyon have a profile consistent with those formed under a deep flowing water, such as would have occured in a global flood. Large, intact, tree trunks with roots sheared off have been found embedded vertically in coal deposits. Those trunks would have eroded away if the coal built up gradually over a long period of time.

Carbon dating indicates C14 still present in fossils and diamonds alleged to be millions of years old. C14 decays to C12 over time, and none would be present after millions of years.

The presence of DNA in dinosaur bones.

More importantly, we can deduce from the genealogies given in Scripture that the world is around 6000 years old. This is ample evidence for those willing to believe the truth of God's word.

Without having advanced scientific knowledge, or the inspired Scriptures, it would be difficult for anyone to accurately pin point the age of the earth. However, without the Scriptures, it is plain to all that are willing to see, that our universe was created by God, the Master designer.

Geez, I asked for one not 20...LOL

But this one has been a false claim about the DNA in blood for a while...

However, every one of these claims can be refuted. But I honestly do not have time to find the refutations for everyone of them.

And about the genealogies.....Was Noah literally 400 yrs old or was it just his generations?

The ancient chinese civilizations date back over 10,000 yrs ago. So were these civilizations faked by God?

During Noah's time the egyptians were thriving. After the flood we should expect to find the egyptians disappear, however, they go right back to being a thriving nation as if no flood had ever occurred.

One must remember that the vast majority of evolutionists are secular. They just don't believe there's are God as we know Him. Sure, they may tell you, "Yes, I believe in God." but most people will tell you that. What their ideas of God are is as varied as the sands on a beach. And most believe the bible a waste of paper anyway. For us it's not a matter of believing in God but believing God.

I've been told when America was young that the bible was used to teach reading since it was the most common book out there. In a sense I suppose creationism was taught back then, even in the schools. But as we gained wisdom and knowledge the bible was gradually removed from any part of a curriculum. When prayer was removed from the schools that ended any possibilities of the biblical creation being taught anywhere in public schools.

As for me and the topic I'd go with the most common ideas out there to fit in. Nobody really wants to be a black sheep. Nobody wants criticism or persecution. Without being saved I'd run with the crowd to avoid peer pressure. Jesus said the world will hate you because of me and how true that is.

/edit
Man, I really messed up this post. I think the first two paragraphs belong in the "Evolutionists will stop at nothing to protect their theory" thread.

I'm not with it today so please forgive me.:crosself:

I've seen some of the arguments proposed and do not believe they stand up to scrutiny. As you do not accept the plain teaching of Scripture on Creation this is not the place for you to pass judgement on the discussions between those who do.

Yes, these claims can be refuted outside creationism when the literal is not used. Some claims of thesistic evolution can be refuted by the secular since the bible is not used. And some claims by the secular can be refuted by the secular since some only want to argue. :)

I suppose it's one's point of view.

But here the bible is viewed as literal.

I would really like to know the refutations of the arguments proposed. Please start a thread or I will in the origins forum. Thats if you are up to it.
