  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I haven't done compeetition for a few years, but I remember pretty much anything from "Chicago" and "Moulin Rouge" being overdone. "Rent" music will probably be way overdone this year due to the movie, and songs like "Cabaret", , or aything from the "Fosse" soundtrack, especially "Bye Bye Black Bird", "Hey Big Spender" are used quite a bit. Just because something is used alot doesn't mean that you can't put your own twist on it though. I did a Musical theatre solo to "All that Jazz" about three years ago. That is probably the number one most used musical theatre song and I still had a blast, though the judges weren't too crazy about it, but that could have been due to any number of things. I always thought "Time warp" from Rocky Horror would make a great Musical Theatre dance, but maybe not for a solo, "Gimme Gimme" from Thuroughly modern Millie" would be great too, and make a fabulous solo!, and though Rent will probably be popular this year, "Take Me out", would be so much fun too. Good luck :)
You also might want to consider something from The Pajama game, I always wanted to do a solo to "Hernando's hideaway" and I haven't seen that used very much .
