This is addressed to Christians:
Have you ever thought about the morality of actors doing things in front of the camera that God has commanded they not do in "real life"?
Let's say there is a really steamy bedroom scene between unmarried characters in particular and both act-ers are married to other people. Is it OK because they are just pretending? I would venture to say that is a BIG reason Hollywood marriages do not work out. We are not supposed to put ourselves in slippery/tempting situations. That type of activity is reserved for the marriage bed alone. Hollywood marriages are generally a JOKE because of this factor. It's as if broken relationships are viewed as merely an occupational hazard, no big deal. I think God grieves over this mockery of marriage.
Then there is the factor that this breaking of God's commands is RECORDED and shown to the public who is then watching that which God spoke against and being tempted to lust in their minds and giving money from income that God provided them with to support movies of that type, encouraging more movies of that type to be made. etc.
I oftentimes hear from Christians (and have said it myself) that as long as the general theme of the movie shows sin in a bad light and the wrongdoers reap a whirlwind because of it, that it is OK to view. Now I wonder.
P.S. I'm not trying to throw legalism on anyone. Just thoughts I've had lately.
