  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is addressed to Christians:

Have you ever thought about the morality of actors doing things in front of the camera that God has commanded they not do in "real life"?
Let's say there is a really steamy bedroom scene between unmarried characters in particular and both act-ers are married to other people. Is it OK because they are just pretending? I would venture to say that is a BIG reason Hollywood marriages do not work out. We are not supposed to put ourselves in slippery/tempting situations. That type of activity is reserved for the marriage bed alone. Hollywood marriages are generally a JOKE because of this factor. It's as if broken relationships are viewed as merely an occupational hazard, no big deal. I think God grieves over this mockery of marriage.

Then there is the factor that this breaking of God's commands is RECORDED and shown to the public who is then watching that which God spoke against and being tempted to lust in their minds and giving money from income that God provided them with to support movies of that type, encouraging more movies of that type to be made. etc.

I oftentimes hear from Christians (and have said it myself) that as long as the general theme of the movie shows sin in a bad light and the wrongdoers reap a whirlwind because of it, that it is OK to view. Now I wonder.

P.S. I'm not trying to throw legalism on anyone. Just thoughts I've had lately. :)

It definitely is something to wrestle with. It's like we're caught between being culturally relevant or being culturally ignorant. In my opinion, as long as we're discerning of the message the movie makes, it gives us fuel to use as conversation with those who don't know Christ.

But I'm not saying that each of us should see every genre either. Realize your level of tolerance - and perhaps God will only send non-Christians to you who have similar levels of tolerance.

I agree totally, plus we are not to even look on another's nakedness except our spouse and children that need cared for! How would some of us feel to have Jesus walk in and look at our movie collections? Or to see what we are watching? He does see every movie we watch or book we read,of course, but to picture it happening physically should give some pause for thought.

Aside from the obvious grammatical butchery here, I'm a little disturbed by the statement itself. We're supposed to look at little kids naked?! Sorry, I'm not on board with this one. Please clarify the reason why you can only care for children if they're naked.

I'm fairly sure soblessed53 intended the word "our" to be both for husband and children, which would limit the meaning to their own children (and not all children). Does that clarify it?

Yeah, that is a little less disturbing. Thanks.

P.S. It's still a good idea to put clothes on your kids, though.
