CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Meeting is the first part. What you do afterward determines the outcome. You’ve admitted your limited experience elsewhere. That won’t be the case for most women in their thirties or forties.

What is setting up? That is when someone you know finds a person they know and arranges for you two to have a first date, or at least meet.
The person doing the setting up is the filter for both people. Therefore, if you come to them asking to help you meet someone, I would expect any hints of desperation that would come with the asking to be filtered out - but it's really up to the person, not to you. Simultaneously, you have to consider what this person thinks will make a good couple. That can be an asset or a liability. If someone has a track record of picking train wreck women for himself or for others, one can expect that he will get you similar results.
