We haven't spoken to each other in 4 years. We have always had a difficult relationship. She has admitted never liking me. My dad would say "You mother hasn't liked you since day one." He never said that to hurt me, it was always said in explaining her viscousness towards me. He didn't know the half of it, had I ever told him it would have broken his heart. She didn't come to my wedding. I wrote her a letter stating that it's her grandchildren's lives that she is missing out on and that the choice would be hers. She came to my daughter's baptism after she was born. We had a fairly descent relationship after that. She became mad at me for not thanking her enough for knitting afghans for my daughters. We hadn't spoken for a couple of years. Then my son was getting married. She was knitting an afghans. I asked if it was for my son and she said no, it was for my cousin, she was getting married. She said she wasn't going to make one for my son because he never called her. She hung up on me when I said that this was a relationship she needed to build about 20 years ago. It takes all of me to build up enough reserve so that when I do speak to her I can be able to take what she has to say. I've been doing it for 43 years now and it just gets too hard. I pray for her and wish her well. I may call her, I've been thinking about it a lot, I just don't know if I can take her rejection, again.
