  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Okay, I'd like my post count to at least be up to 15 so I can actually send my friends a PM, and I am not ready to completely lower myself to begging for rep in threads....

So, this is as low as I get.

Ask me anything.

I have noticed that the people who makes these threads can also make rules for their threads, so these are my only two rules:

1) Plese be respectful, there are some thngs it is not polite to ask a lady.

2) You must be willing to answer the same question you ask.... answer and ask.

(Don't forget my rules. You must answer it also.)
I don't think I've ever tried it :D

Okay, one more question: What is your favorite book?

My profile has my answer to it - Heretics and/or Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton :D

(side-note: the :D-smiley here is slightly too lame for my taste!!)

Never tried applesauce?!?!

Here:

Get 6 apples.... your fav. kind will probably work. Different apples have different flavors from tart to sweet to bland. You can also get a mix of apple varieties.

Peel, core, and quarter the apples.

Place them in a pot of boiling water, with some cinnamon sticks. The water should just cover the apples. Cover. Cook on medium-low (the temp may vary) until apples are tender.... you can check by sticking a fork into them.

Drain all the excess water. Remove cinnamon sticks. Add approximately 1/4-1/2 c. of sugar-- but this will depend on the type of apples (i.e. how sweet) and also your own personal tastes.

Mash completely the apples. If you want to use an electric mixer that is fine. Mash to your liking. Some people like theirs chunkier.

If you want, add some ground cinnamon, or just enjoy as is. Best eaten warm!

What is your favorite movie(s)?

(Answering these questions out of order....)

I don't have an absolute single favorite movie, but at the top would be: Dune, The Village, Signs, and Pi.
Edit: And I must add The Broken. After seeing it, it has fast become one of my favs.

Okay, one more question: What is your favorite book?

THAT is a tough question to answer. I have been thinking about it all night, and I have come to the conclusion that I absolutely can not name a single book. There are so many books that are just wonderful! I think each one is special in its own way. From the ripe age of 12 I eagerly read Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, highlighter in hand and dictionary by my side.... For poetry I enjoy Wallace Stevens and John Donne among others..... I like George Bernard Shaw, Brecht, and Samuel Beckett.... Hemmigway is brilliant and must never be read at a surface level..... I enjoy Dean Koontz.... I love Jack London, since I was very young..... I'd recommend in a heartbeat: Nature via Nurture by Ridley, The Mind's Past by Gazzaniga, Phatoms in the Brain by Ramachandran ..... I enjoyed Jung, he is very thought provoking in some things, although in others I wonder if he realizes the connection he is making or if he just chooses not to voice it hoping that the reader will not make the connection...... I enjoy John Gray's relationship books, except for his one on Divorce which feels forced and absolutely is horrible....... I enjoy books on religion, including cross religious studies.....

and finally, the little girl in me just adores books such as: Francis Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden and A Little Princess; L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables and the follow on books, and Lucy of New Moon and the follow on books.

I could list hundreds more books and authors.... each one with such wonderful content. There are very few books that belong in the trash.

Since we are, after all, on ChristianForums, what are some of your favourite bible verses?

Here are a few that I have been keeping in my mind and heart.

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.
(1 Corinthians 16:13)

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear ; do not be frightened."
(1 Peter 3:14)

(1 Peter 3:14)

Those are very nice. :) I don't have any particular favorite, but certain ones touch me at different times..... I will post them in KJV.....

1 Peter 2: 13-25 KJV
13Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

14Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
15For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
16As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
17Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
18Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
19For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
20For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

Acts 17:24-31
24"The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; 25nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;
26and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
27that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
28for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children.'
29"Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man.
30"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,
31because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead."

What are your hobbies/interests?

Mine are too varied. Anything outdoors, creativity induced, music-for starters

Thank you for the question! Mine are varied as well. I enjoy puzzles, reading, writing, research, going out for walks, gardening, crochet, sewing, playing, cooking, enjoying nature, going to the theater or symphony, going to museums, etc. I could go on for hours listing things.

To be honest, there isn't much that I don't like to do. I am not into RPG's, bungee jumping, watching cartoons, or other things along those lines.

1) In 20 years from now........ teaching full time at a university, having fun pursuing my research interests, my kids will all be adults, I'll still be living here, my home should be all fixed up by then, I'm not sure if my parents will still be alive or not..... and I will probably still be single. :p

2) Fav. constellation is probably Orion, simply because it is always the easiest to see/find.

3) I always liked Dune. Others pre-1990 would include Psycho, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and Carrie.

I was thinking about it while picking up the fund raiser goods.....

I will also be completely debt free (home paid off, no student loans, etc.), I will probably have grandkids, I'll be looking at nearing retirement, etc.
