  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What's your favorite historical period?

Do you prefer real books over an e-reader?

The historical time period I find to be most interesting is U.S. history in mid-late 1800s to about 1920 or so: Industrial Revolution, Gilded Age, Progressivism, and The Orphan Trains.

Real books. I received an e-reader for Christmas, and while it's very nice to have a library on there (especially when traveling and many books are free), I really like the feel, smell, and just experience of reading from an actual book. I like being able to stick a bookmark in it, easily gauge how much progress I've made, etc.

When you are sick, what gives you comfort and makes you feel better?
Acts of Service is a close 2nd as a love language for me, so I feel better just having someone try to take care of me in any way.

Would you rather write a story or read a story?

Read one. When I was a teenager, writing came easily, but I have a harder time with writing stories now. I still love reading stories, though.

What about those two really draws you to meet them?

They had views that I admire. Eleanor Roosevelt was pro-woman, pro-civil rights, spoke on international human rights, and generally active politically (for good--IMO--causes) for the rest of her life.

Jane Addams started Hull House and is credited with started the field of social work[ers], as well as generally being a big reformer of the Progressive Era. She was also pro-peace and a feminist. She was the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
