  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

lol, well it's a sundress for summer or spring so i haven't worn it yet.
I guess I can see why you haven't worn it yet. I can see why you would want to start your own business. The Mina collection, or clothes by Mina.
what's something you would like to make, that you have never done?

yeah, I DO hate that. Bleh

I have to read my Bible and do my quiet time at night, b/c early in the morning i'm too tired to think about what i'm reading and i'm always in a rush in the mornings. It just works better at night.
Do you do devotionals?
Do you read your bible in order, or do you just go with a different book?

I used to do our daily bread and campus journal in college. For about 3 years now i've just been reading the Bible straight through. It started when i was going through a very difficult break up and I was reading this book by Stormie Omartian. She said just pick up the Bible and read, fill your mind with truth. So i've been doing that and I'll write down verses that really mean alot to me and why. It's interesting to look back and see what God has taught me and how He has brought healing through His word.

I've been reading in order.

1. Better funding from the community. Schools don't get much money from the state-they cut costs for important things as much as they can and you get what you pay for. There are no more supplies at my school for this year- we have been told don't ask for crayons, paper, chalk, dry erase markers etc... but yet we are supposed to teach without these things and do a perfect job. I would like to see more local businesses sponsering schools- it doesn't happen here. I haven't had tissues for about 2 months, I've sent notes home asking for help from parents but have not gotten any. They will send in snack though- unfortunately it's high sugar junk. I just wish that I as a teacher could have what I needed to really benefit the kids. The whole "NO Child Left Behind" kinda looks good on paper, but there's no money to implement it (that's a whole other rant all together).

2. Make them less state test oriented. I've only been teaching 5 years and it just seems more and more that all schools have become is making kids good at taking a stadardized test (which is neither age appropriate nor developmentally appropriate for young children). I hate that I have to train a 7 year old to sit still and quiet for an hour or more and bubble in tiny little dots. None of these tests are important to the kids. I'd rather see more meaningful learning and hands on things- discovery learning. I think teachers and educators need to be setting the standards for kids , not politicans that have never been in a classroom. I would make it madatory for elected officals to sub a certian number of days in the public schools.

3. More incorporation of art and music into regular education classes. I think it's relevant for all subject matter and it makes learning more fun for children.

What do you like most about teaching?

Do you think you would ever like to teach a different grade?

I like the kids. That's the only reason I went into teaching to be honest. That's what I'd miss the most if i ever stopped teaching which i might.

I might like to teach Kindergarten b/c I love them sooo much. They are just so innocent and eager to learn.

funniest- there's a little boy this year that isn't in my classroom but is in another teacher's on my hall. I think he has a little crush on me. He asked me if i was married and i said no. So he said , "Boy! some guy better snatch you up!" while turning red. It was so cute and funny.

worst- happened this year also, A kid halfheartedly threw a chair at me while growling at me. There were no words but it was a pretty bad experience. Fortunately a studnet also said the sweetest thing to me b/c of this. After it was over and the kid had been taken up to the office by the principal- a sweet sweet little girl stood up in front of the class and started naming reasons why they should be glad and thankful i was their teacher. The next day she brought in a letter she had written to me which was also very sweet. She came and gave me a big hug and handed me her letter and whispered "I just thought you needed this today". Yeah it's been a year of extremes.
