CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well most of the day is spent on Reading and Math in the younger grades, so we only get about 15 min. for Science or Social Studies (we don't have time to teach both in the same day). Reading gets an uninteruped 3 hour block (lots go into that -phonics, sight words, literacy centers, small group language skills, whole group reading,etc..) Math gets about an hour of instruction and practice. I try to do a lot of hands on activities. However my class has had a hard time following directions this year so i havent' done many activities with them.

I don't know. In the past it was usually girls, but now i'm seeing equal misbehavior from boys and girls. It's strange. I do have a little girl in my room who is the sweetest child i've ever met though. She NEVER is mean or uncooperative.

Well my name is on my ID and the kids see it. They like it b/c i guess it's not common. A little boy called me by it the other day- he was teasing- but i did have to tell him that kids should call adults/teachers by their last name as a sign of respect.

no, i just told him that he shouldn't call teachers by their first name.
I do send kid's to the office as an absolute last resort- i try to handle it in my room first. I send a girl last week b/c she wasn't following directions even though she heard them; then she plugged her fingers in her ears and started humming loudly like she didn't care what i said. Then later in the day she threw herself and her bookbag into a group of children knocking several down and then knocked paint over. and that was on purpose, so i sent her up.

Wedding's are over rated, unless it's yours or a member of your immediate family/best friend they are really kind of silly.
I'm going to a mary kay spa party tonight. and then i'm going to sleep late tommorrow.
