  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Welcome, Aryamehr, nice to have you here!

How do Iranians feel about their current theocratic government?

Most Iranians are very non-religious, they feel that Islam is foreign to their culture and identity, most Iranians don't like their current theocratic government because of a lack of freedoms and rights.

Greetings Aryamehr, glad to see you here.

I have a question: What are the gun laws/rights like in Iran?
and

If Iranians are not satisfied and feel repressed by their government (not saying they do), is one of the reasons they have not overthrown their current government relate to gun rights/laws?

People are not allowed to own guns for the most part.

>is one of the reasons they have not overthrown their current government relate to gun rights/laws?

No, it's because Iranians are not a violent people, you must remember, that most Islamic terrorism (if not all) is done by Arabs and Turks. This is something many Americans forget. In the history of humanity, there has never been a single Iranian suicide bomber (with exception to a Pakistani Baluchi and a few non-Persian separatist groups like Kurds and other peoples). So, the reason why Iranians have not overthrown their current government, is mostly because Iranians are very non-violent.

No, I haven't, but I think you mean 'Parsi' not 'Parsai'.

That might be I am not sure about the spelling. He was/is a friend of mine. I haven't seen him in 30 years and I often wonder what became of him. He was studying engineering here in 1975 and when Carter came to the scene back in those days there was some major trouble there for his family and he left abruptly with out finishing his studies. Oh well if you bump into him some day tell him Paul from Statesboro said hello.

What about Iranian men? ^_^
Now that you mention it...

I do know a very handsome Iranian man. :D

But he prefers to be called Persian, I'm guessing because he wants people to associate him with the great Persian empire rather than with ayatollahs.

Persia and Iran are interchangeable, we changed our nations formal name from Persia to Iran in 1935, Iran is a cognate of the word Aryan, and the indigenous word for Iran, we have always used it domestically. Persia is a Greco-Western word, the name attested to Persia by Persians indigenously in the Persian language is Iran however.

Think... Deutschland to Germany

For some reason my sister used to tell people that I was adopted from Persia.

Are there many Zoroastrians left?

Zoroastrianism is very popular nowadays in Iran, it's growing very fast as a nationalistic identity movement. However traditional Zoroastrians, I don't know their numbers, sorry.

Is the Zoroastrian faith thriving?

::edit:: Sorry I didn't read the second page before I posted lol

I heard just the opposite though that it was dwindling? I'm glad to hear it's still holding on strong.
