Hey there folks how're you all doing?

I figured that I would try something different than what I'd expect the average Atheist/Non-Believer does when they come to this forum, and instead of asking you the questions I figured I would let you all ask me something that you might be curious about... Could be anything from asking about the way I think or perceive the world to asking about my religious upbringing...

If I've posted this in the wrong forum or the Moderators feel this topic to be too unstable for the forum to handle I shall happily delete or move this topic to another place.

Yes I do enjoy his works both scientific and philosophical, I was introduced to his works a year or two ago by a friend of mine and have enjoyed them since.

Hmm...

I guess my thoughts on Christians would depend entirely on the people themselves and the denomination of Christianity they follow but my thoughts on Christians in general is that they're no different to the followers of other religions.. The only difference between a Christian and a Muslim or a Jew is a personal thing and not really for me to comment on.

As for their place in a society I go back to what I just said about it being a personal thing... It's perfectly fine to have a faith of your own and live your life by it however it's wrong to expect others to follow the same guidelines that your faith follows regardless of how moral you think they are.

Have you offered a "testimonial" at the WorldofDawkins on how Dawkins brought you to atheism?

On Dawkins, can you name me one of his scientific ideas that has withstood testing? All those I am aware of -- hyperselectionism, memes, the gene as the unit of selection, etc. -- have bitten the dust. I do like Dawkins as an explainer of evolution, but his track record as a scientist is pretty poor.

As for what you've said about his scientific persuits I haven't heard such things but i'll look into it

Actually we had a whole string of "ask a _____ " type threads in a more suitable forum. Not only did they all get deleted but the rules got changed to specifically forbid such a thing. Not sure if they got changed back, but your thread stands so far ...

The only problem here is that the rules stipulate you should be the only NC (non Christian) to post. So if you don't mind being ganged up on this is fine, but in this section there is CWR, which is open to all. I started a thread or two there you might be interested in, should be easy enough to find via clicking on my username and looking up threads I started.

There are at least a few others in CWR that had this same experience. It would interest me to see what your understanding of certain things are. Of course it's always more interesting to discuss those things you don't like, but other things must come first ...

I belive that The Theory of Evolution has a lot more evidence on it's side than "God did it"

We're talking hundreds of years of research and proof showing both other species and our own changing and Evolving over time. Combine that with DNA testing of fossils of earlier Humans and it's pretty solid evidence for where we came from...

In regards to previous threads getting deleted I'm not sure what cused that but I'll do my best to keep my side of the conversation neutral and give the moderators no reason to delete this thread.

As for my thoughts on Jesus I think he's a very interesting all be-it contradicting character of the bible...
