It is said that Scientologist L.Ron Hubbard and an accomplice of his managed to contact the same entity as Crowley,LAM, this in the 40's.

Oh, on this, Parsons and Hubbard performed the Babalon Working in the '40s before their relationship soured. In my opinion, they succeeded in contacting Babalon, and I consider Liber 49 to be more-or-less canon.

If only it was that simple, but following one's Will is a lot harder than just wondering if it's going to hurt anyone. After all, there are a lot of things one can do that won't hurt anyone, but which one is correct? So, Thelema cannot be reduced to Utilitarianism.

Even though Jeremy Bentham had plenty of good points I would not reduce the religion or philosophy of Thelema to Utilitarianism. Just like I would not reduce Christianity as to simply "love your neighbor".....

Heh. I've never even heard of LAM until now, and I'll chalk that up to just another being Crowley contacted. I have limited knowledge of the Amalantrah workings, but then again I'm not all that interested in Crowley's specific magickal workings, except where they specifically relate to Thelema.

I found all but the Typhonian O.T.O. site last night. I'm sticking with my opinion that LAM would just be another being Crowley contacted, and that LAM has little influence on my own personal Thelema.
