I know there are a lot of young people using power tools, and those who don't may be curious.

Wow, quick response! I work mostly with Dewalt tools, but Makita is a very good brand, their new Li-on (Lithium Ion) cordless line is awesome.

Haha! If he is, I am very glad I haven't had to work on him, that could get very awkward.

Well, it would be much more painful than the cartoons, but yes, it would. I would advise against it.

fyi: Nailers are either pneumatic (air powered), or battery powered

Like what type of tool would be ideal for a certain task? Handy-man stuff makes me sleepy, but some common sense would be sure to pay off later.

I'm still trying to figure out how to anchor my ladder. I've been talking to a few roofers about putting hooks on my extension ladder then tying off with a safety harness but I'm still a bit unsure of how to do it. Especially when there is nothing for the hooks on the ladder to hook to.

Well, each tool has a number of areas it can be used in effectively, it is mainly just important that none are used beyond their means. Otherwise I get to take a look at them. If you can give some specifics, I can go into detail, but that is a very broad topic, lol.

I've only ever had to get onto a roof once, but when I did, the hooks were for the gutter, mainly to prevent the ladder falling backward, the harness (the same one the roofers use to stay on the roof) would just have another line going to the ladder, where it would be tied off.

In all professional roofing instances, a harness should be present, as the roofers wouldn't be covered by insurance otherwise.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how the harness is et up, or what is involved.

Hi there, my favorite tool is my Impact Driver. It's the main tool I use when I do repairs and is the most versatile tool that I have.

I don't have enough posts to copy the link, but if you go to the Dewalt website and search for the term "Impact Driver" you can see what I am talking about. (I have the 9.6v model)

All you need is a few drywall screws and a screwdriver. Perhaps you have a guy friend that can help you with it?
