Well I don't know if it reassuring that nothing has changed since I have been away or not. I have been following the discussions for a while and even though I didn't want to come back I just can't help myself. It does my heart good to know that there are more religious people of other faiths that realize some of the negative feelings that are out there for the LDS.

Hopefully, there are no people here who have negative feelings towards LDS. Jesus told us to love everyone and common sense tells us that if there's one rotten apple in a barrel, it doesn't mean that the rest of the apples are rotten.

Hey TasteForTruth, brave thread! ;)

I have a question; I understand you do not drink tea/coffee. Does this include fruit or herbal teas?
As Fatboys indicated, herbal or fruit teas are not proscribed in any LDS doctrine, as are coffee and "traditional?" tea (I admit that I don't know teas all that well...go figure).

My rhetorical question was why "would" they?...not "do" they? IE, they shouldn't. But some do anyway.

Lots of members were understandably afraid of ex-Mormons. In order to get or renew a temple recommend, they would be asked: "Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?"

This was my original question:
Why would LDS find offensive that some people lose faith in their beliefs?
What you've said doesn't have anything to do with it. You're talking about fear.

which includeds:

There will be no disrespect shown to Christianity, nor will there be any attempt to discredit or disprove Christianity.

What constitutes proselytizing or promotion is explained in more detail as follows:

  • Proselytizing: To induce or recruit someone to convert to or join a non-Christian religion.
  • Promotion: To encourage the progress, growth, or acceptance of a non-Christian religion.
    • Promotion includes posts which are invitational in context or give guidance in practicing a non-Christian religion.
    • All "Ask a [fill in the blank]" threads are considered promotion threads and will not be allowed. Out of respect, Christians will not make any "Ask a [fill in the blank]" threads either.
    • Non Christian members may start threads which request information about another religion, but may not start threads to promote their own religion.
