Any 'Life on Mars' fans see 'Ashes to Ashes' last night? What did you think? I was sceptical that they could make a series to match up to LOM but after the first episode I am optimistic that they may just do it! Gene Hunt was as sublime as ever.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought it was ok- a little bit tongue-in-cheek, not meant to be taken too seriously. I liked the music but I haven't quite made up my mind yet.

I preffered LOM, I tried to watch Ashes To Ashes on it's first episode, but I can't really seem to get into it.

Yes! I loved LOM because I'm a 70's child (a huge David Bowie fan too) but Ashes to Ashes is set early enough in the 80's for me to still appreciate it! I'm enjoying the new series very much. I like the spin on it that a pre-warned Alex Drake is bringing, love the way she calls all the other characters 'constructs'! It's interesting to trace developments of attitudes towards police work, women etc. Never thought we'd see Gene Hunt in a wine bar instead of a pub but that's the 80's for you!

Ive just watched the second one. Not as good as LOM, but stands up well on its own. Hunt as always is the best.
