God gave man the intelligence and capabilities to create technology.

I wouldnt give credit where it is not due.

Like all things, it can be used for evil....but good comes from it as well.

If technology is demonic, why are you on the internet?

:D :D

i am suspicious that technology is demonic in origin.

does anyone agree on that ?

Markus

I think it's what it's used for that decides if it's demonic or not. Like a previous poster said, it depends. Anything can be used for evil. And those same things can also be used for good.

ok, let me edit my thesis a bit:

i suspect demonic and evil forces behind the growing industrialization and its impact on humankind and modern culture.
the ways that we have made ourselves dependant on machines are bad for humankind, it leads to confusion
(->babel, babylon), drivenness, we cannot find rest, our roots have been cut off.
I see that people have become dependent in their daily lives, they can not control nor understand any longer the complex system they are living in.

i believe all of this is part of the "great tribulation", the "time of the end".

does that make any more sense ?

calidog: i am on the internet because i am unemployed right now and don´t go to college either, so all i got is cyber communication, which is better than being all alone. (human beings need interaction)

ditto.

actually Coldstone asked the question.

I believe "everything" is lining up for the great tribulation...the rapid advances in technology will facilitate it.

To be perfectly honest, the recurring idea that things or places are inherently good or evil is a little offbase. We are all free to choose how it is we live, technology itself is innocent, it is simply and object, it can be used for good or ill, just like a pen or pencil can either write to encourage or to tear down.

The evil in this world regardless of any demonic intent, is still human choice. You can have a whole squad of people yelling at you to do something wrong, but its only you in the end that chooses wrong.

Personal responsibility is the key here. The credit for evil falls into human hands entirely, we are the ones who let it rule, we choose it. Thank God that we have such an abundant covering of grace over us preserving us in our time of need, which is now and always.

I think it is, as was said in the Matrix, our way of trying to "marvel at our own greatness," because I really can't see any benefit coming from real AI (if such a thing can truly exist, see below). All what I can see is, if it ever does happen, that people will continue to loose more and more jobs to robots, which isn't good for the person, their family, for business, or for the Government.

I don't think that it is demonic at all, so much as it is just men seeing how far they can push the boundaries between fiction and reality. It is an attempt at advancing science and humanity forward and making our lives easier. Likewise, I do not believe that cloning is demoniacally inspired so much as it is based on mankind's sinful nature. I also believe the same for abortion and other such life-destroying things. Those who developed the techniques are just sinners acting in-line with their godless and sinful nature. We have to remember that the human heart is very wicked and godless, who can trust it? Should it surprise us if from it springs all kinds of technology that destroys, including the nuclear warhead?

For something to have true artificial intelligence, it must be free from any programming which tells it what to do. Generally speaking at the simplistic level, we say that computer controlled players in computer games are AI, but they are not true AI because they are controlled by programming. They do what their programming tells them to do, which isn't AI. So long as we program things, we can never get true AI, if that makes any sense.
