A few days ago, I had a unique experience. Normally, my dreams are of the mundane variety: being back in high school, forgetting something important for something, etc, but the other night, I had the first dream I have ever had that felt "significant" in some way. If anyone can offer an interpretation (it may be meaningless for all I know), I would appreciate it.

In my dream, I had something that I felt that was of incredible value, something priceless beyond measure that belonged to be put into the Ark of the Covenant. I do not know why or how, but the Ark was readily available in front of me. In the dream I reached out my hand to open the Ark and put the object in (it seems to me it may have been Aaron's staff or something which should already be in there, ironic because my name is also Aaron). As my hand came into contact with the Ark, it dawned on me that I should not be touching the Ark and that since I wasn't a priest and wasn't grabbing it by the poles (although being a Christian may negate the priesthood part), I may die. When I touched it, the lid opened and I was knocked to my knees as I felt a sense of warmth surround me (powerful, but not harmful). I heard someone in a deep voice then speak in a language I had no comprehension of. The voice spoke what seemed to be a sentence, maybe two. I have no idea whether it may have been Hebrew or something else. I then awakened and sat straight up.

I have never had a dream such as this, nor have I "audibly" heard Gods voice before, but now I'm not sure I haven't, although I didn't understand what was said. Can anyone help me understand what this may mean, if anything at all?

Have you shared this with your pastor?

Well, I can't answer your query. I don't put much stock in dreams, but your episode seems to have been more of a vision than a dream. What it signifies if anything I don't know.

I've had a number of "visions", and the night my father died, he appeared in room. That was more of an apparition. We argued and talked, and at the end he gave this almighty scream and just disappeared. That was 39 years ago and I still remember it. And I don't remember dreams. In fact at one point, I asked "What is this! A dream or something?" He looked a bit bemused and replied, "No, it's not a dream. I died tonight". At another point he exclaimed "It wasn't easy for me either you know, and I never had a chance to see anything like this!"

Be that as it may there was one dream or vision which I also remember. I was staying at a friend's residence in Perth in Western Australia, sometime in 1982.

The bedrooms were all taken so I was dossing down on the lounge room floor. It was a rather trying time in my life, and one night I had this peculiar "vision" or "dream" if you like.

In the dream (to call it that), someone seemed to walk past me on a dusty road wearing a gown with tassels on the bottom. All I could see was the feet and ankles walking past, with sandals on, with these tassels swinging around. Any attempt to look any higher seemed to be resisted or not allowed. Anyway I reached out and touched one of the tassels. Then the dream or vision vanished.

A few weeks later I returned to Brisbane on the east coast, and a few months after that became a Christian. Shades of the woman with the bleeding issue I suppose, except she touched the tassels of the real gown of the real Christ - my experience was purely visionary.

Who knows? Your dream may have spiritual significance, but I think the only way you'll find out what the significance is will be simply to hang in there and wait. The meaning will become clear with time, if at all. I'd take a jaundiced view of anyone who thinks they can tell you the significance, but that's just my opinion.

So for the time being, I'd just suggest you put it on the back burner. My "vision" if that's what it was, took months to take on meaning, and even then it was probably quite some time before I ever heard the story of the woman who touched Christ's gown. Until that time it had no significance to me whatsoever.
